Read moreA Shocking Experience at Brother's Produce – Unacceptable Behavior, should be addressed urgently.
I have been a regular customer at Brother's Produce for years, always relying on their special bread and unique Middle Eastern vegetables. The quality has been consistently great, and I’ve always enjoyed shopping there. However, my visit on January 7th, 2025, completely changed my perception. As I was making my way into the store, struggling due to my disability, I was shocked to encounter one of the movers there who rudely rushed me to get out of his way. He then began yelling at me for no apparent reason, accusing me of "looking at him" (which was strange) and quickly escalated into insulting and cursing at me. He was much older—about my father's age—and I tried to calmly address him out of respect by acknowledging this, but his behavior only worsened. He even threatened to bring "his boys" to harm me. Furious and shaken, I went inside to report the incident to the security guard. To his credit, the security officer remained professional and courteous, and I asked him to step aside so we could discuss what had just happened. But just then, the man I later learned was the owner of the store approached. Rather than offering any resolution, he began cursing and insulting me as well, even physically pushing me to leave. I asked him to show some respect while I was trying to explain the situation to the security guard. This experience was deeply upsetting and made me feel unsafe. I’ve always thought of Brother’s Produce as a good place, but the actions of this employee and the owner were completely uncalled for. This kind of behavior is not acceptable in a community like Paterson, or anywhere else, especially in a country like the United States where respect and freedom should be afforded to all people, regardless of where they’re from. This is not just an issue for me—it’s something that threatens the safety and well-being of the whole community. I hope the store takes responsibility for this incident and ensures that no one else has to experience such unprofessional and...
Read moreThe management staff here is absolutely the WORST and I had horrible experience at this place!! I recently spent over $120 on groceries and produce, only to discover that one of the spice jars I purchased was already opened when I got home. I returned the very next day with my receipt to request a simple exchange for a sealed item not even a refund yet was met with outright refusal by the manager. Rather than resolving the issue, the manager repeatedly accused me of opening the item myself and questioned why I didn’t inspect it before purchasing.I would expect a reputable business to ensure that products on their shelves are sealed, safe, and in sellable condition. It is not the customer’s responsibility to second-guess the integrity of your inventory.
From reading other reviews, it appears this is not an isolated incident. There are consistent complaints about OPENED, EXPIRED, and SPOILED items being sold here. While your owner boost on his socials the quality of your products, my experience reflects the opposite.
This type of dismissive and accusatory treatment toward customers is unacceptable. Not only is it poor customer service, but it raises serious concerns about food safety. It’s alarming to think that someone could unknowingly consume a tampered product and suffer health consequences.
I don’t take matters like this lightly and will be reporting this matter to the Clifton Department of Health and the Better Business Bureau. Needless to say, I will not be returning and will be advising others to shop...
