Below is a "thank you" to Amelia Khalil, Turning Point's Clinical Director and my supervisor as an intern from Ramapo College!!
Dear Amelia,
I wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU for my experience at Turning Point. Your guidance as a supervisor has truly made a significant impact on my experience.
First and foremost, I would like to thank you for being such an inspiring woman. Your dedication to your work and the organization (especially our team!) is truly admirable, and it motivates me to strive for excellence in everything I do. Your passion and commitment to helping those in recovery are evident in everything you do, and it has been a privilege to learn from someone as devoted as you.
I am truly grateful for the wealth of knowledge you have shared with me, especially in the field of social theory. Your insights and teachings have equipped me with valuable tools for my future endeavors. Your willingness to impart your wisdom and experience has been invaluable, and I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to learn from you. I know I did not reach out as much as I could have and I deeply regret that!
Your positivity and unwavering support have been a constant source of encouragement for me. Your reassuring presence and words of validation have boosted my confidence and have given me the strength to overcome my anxiety with grace.
Lastly, I want to express my gratitude for the support you have offered me on a personal level. Your empathy and genuine care have made a world of difference to me during my time at Turning Point. I am truly grateful for your willingness to support me not just as an intern, but as a person.

Iāve been in the program for about 3 months because I needed help which was difficult to request help in the first place. My counselor, Eleanor Dragonetti, discharged me from the program because they word for word āweren't making enough money off of meā due to the fact that I had mandatory court dates I had to attend on specific dates. Regardless of my mandatory court dates and proof from the courts, they didnāt want to hear it. I had asked if one of the staff, David Tauber, write up in my discharge papers stating the reason I was let go was because of my schedule not working with my court dates in which he agreed to write it up himself personally. Instead he had my old counselor Eleanor Dragonetti, (who is no longer a staff at Turning Point) write up a false report stating my discharge is due to me ānot answering my phoneā and being ādisruptiveā in group by being on my phone. I am still in touch with the individuals who attended group at Turning Point with me, where I have witnesses reporting I was never on my phone during group sessions and there is no proof of me missing a phone call when I had to attend a court appearance. They are extremely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTurning Point of Paterson,NJ is a huge joke. If your looking for a place to go that provides individualized care this is not the place. First of all its a state run facility. The place is a dump. The staff is not required to have any form of degree outside of the counselors. The unit staff are the ones who work with us the most, they run our groups which we are in all day everyday. It's pretty sad that the ones who are suppose to be invested in your sobriety have no formal education about your " disease". There were quite a few incidents that took away from my attention of my treatment while I was there. You are suppose to meet with your counselor twice a week for an hour each time. At this time is when you can make phone calls and only for 5 minutes.. Every time I was to meet with my counselor, instead of being able to address the issues as to why I were there I had to provide details of mishaps that occurred on the unit..and I only got to see my counselor once a week. I felt as though it was a huge waste of my time. If you go there I advise you to make sure you disinfect your bed before you put any bedding on it, because as quick as a girl leaves , you are the one occupying it within hours and no one comes in to clean anything, we are to clean and...
