Simply the largest and most well kept specialty tropical plant store I’ve been to in the USA. I see other reviews here saying the selection isn’t great, staff isn’t friendly, and it’s pricey. But here’s the deal. Yes this isn’t a bargain plant shop, but J’s has some of the most well kept plants I’ve ever seen. And some extremely rare plants you won’t find many places outside of the rainforests of Costa Rica.
Literally thousands of aroids and other tropicals in immaculate condition. Even super rare plants. Yes; some plants are $20 and some are over $1,000. But when you’re staring at a Monstera Thai Constellation with leaves the size of your torso, what do you expect?
The staff here simply go above and beyond with the care of the plants you’re buying. I saw one dead leaf on a single plant during our stroll from their selection of thousands. The soil in all their plants is amazing and the foliage of all their plants with moss poles is incredible. I geeked out so hard in the store.
This isn’t the florist section of Stop and Shop. They’re professionals and you get what you pay for. Such an amazing experience, it’s a...
Read moreSadly, no longer shopping here since the pandemic. I actually went in twice, fairly recently. The first time, I encountered a clerk wearing a face mask with a valve. This is advised against by the CDC, because while a filtered face mask with a valve protects the wearer, they do NOT protect those around them, which is half the point. On my next visit, I tried going early when there were few people, but one of the customers had her mask below her nose, which again defeats the purpose of wearing a mask at all. The person checking her out was obviously looking right at her and said nothing. I try very hard to patronize small businesses vs. online shopping, particularly since many are struggling this year, but in return I'd expect that they would take basic measures to create a safe...
Read moreVery good selection of plants and a beautiful store. I really loved escaping to the warm humid environment during these cold winter months. I truly felt like I was in a jungle. Staff members were very nice and attentive. The only reason I am leaving 3/5 stars is because 1.) the prices are much higher compared to other similar stores I have been to. 2.) I was overcharged not once, but twice. I bought 2 small plants and 2 small pots and went to checkout and was told the amount would be $88. I was not offered a receipt. I double checked the prices and added them up and went back in and was told that I was accidentally overcharged for a fig and it was being corrected. Again, no receipt was offered (it was my fault... I definitely should have asked for one). When I checked my bank account, I was still overcharged by approximately $15. I reached out via email twice and never received a response. I am not going to pursue it any further, but unfortunately I will not be returning. I will take the drive to Briggs in North...
