Habitat For Humanity Restore — Attraction in Peoria

We like the Restore and have found many reasonably priced items for remodeling projects. We checked the holiday hours on the website as we planned to come from out of town and shop for some upcoming remodeling needs. The website said the store would be closed Dec.23-26, 2023 and would reopen on Dec. 27. This seemed reasonable as we want all people to have the opportunity to rest and celebrate, and since the store is usually closed on Mondays, which was Christmas day, it seemed only right they should receive Tuesday off. We were surprised and disappointed to see a computer printed paper on the door stating the store would be closed through the New Year's holiday when we arrived today, December 27. Great cause, terrible store. Tons and tons of furniture stacked on top of each other so you can barely see any of it. The furniture is overpriced and it doesn't matter that it goes to charity, it's all profit so no need to jack up the prices on furniture that needs restored or repaired. Store is dirty, unorganized and cluttered. There was some awful funky odor in there that made me get a headache. I'm terribly disappointed in and ashamed of this store's staff. I'm a high risk individual for covid, and I was horrified to walk in during Illinois' mask mandate, thinking it would be safe inside, and to see almost nobody wearing masks or distancing. Not even the staff here were wearing masks according to the mandate. I didn't want to stay inside for very long out of concern for my own health.
