We came here from out of state, 3 hours away. We were here to see a concert. It was an incredibly hot day, so the staff brought out water coolers and cups for us while we waited in line, which was very appreciated. Parking is simple, convenient, and reasonably priced here.
The security was professional while being helpful and friendly. The main guy outside before the show, I believe his nickname was Lucky was amazing when it came to interacting with the crowd that was lining up outside. He made sure we all knew which lines to be in and that we all got inside on time for the vip and the show. He told everyone to stay hydrated and was instrumental in keeping it a friendly, calm environment for such a large crowd of people. He was a communicator and people person.
The venue was great. The set-up was nice. The merch booths were just inside the doors. There were multiple food and drink options and plenty of restrooms. It was easy to get around for being a big place. We had a meet and greet with the band, which was amazing. We had great spots in the front of the pit.
The security inside the venue was amazing. They stayed out of the way of the stage as much as possible except when they were helping to secure crowd surfers. They were all friendly. They tossed out mini bottled waters to the people in the pit who were getting overheated. There was a situation that unfolded on the left side of the pit between bands, and the security did a great job of getting all the kids out of the way and keeping the situation contained. The police quickly removed the person who was causing trouble.
Overall, it was a great set-up there. Everything flowed perfectly. The bands sounded amazing in the venue. Everything was organized great as far as getting everyone checked in before the show started and leaving everyone time to buy food, drinks, or merch before the show, although the booths were open throughout the show and the merch booths were still open as i was leaving. This was the biggest venue I've ever been to for a show and I was a bit nervous coming in about how everything would work out but it ended up being one of of the best shows I've ever been to and I will definitely come back to see another show here in the future and I recommend the veune to others for...
Read moreHorrible venue!!! Traveled from Texas just to go see a play for my girlfriends birthday and so I ordered 1st row box seats. (Sounds great) little did I know these were worse seats and was better off sitting in the house. First off we had to wait in security for ever and then had to get checked twice since they had no idea what they were doing. Then once in the main area there was no direction on where to go and the ushers were rude and did not help us find our seats (we went to the wrong level and by then we had wait 15mins since they screwed up) Once we got to the box the seats were set up diagonally in four rows. I allowed my girlfriend to sit on the rail (which was a great view) and I sat on the outside and couldn't see sa ingle thing and missed the first half of the show until intermission. We then talked to the usher and was informed there was not other place and moved our chairs to a crowded aisle with cable running in it. After the move I was able to see the second half of the show but was still upset about missing the first half. I thought it was fair to ask for a refund of one ticket and suggested to them how to fix the viewing issue. Since then I tried contacting several managers of the center and only received one email back saying it was being reviewed. It has now been three weeks since this issue and nothing. I did not buy concessions at the event and have no input. My only suggestion to anyone going -DO NOT BUY BOX SEATS- obstructed view, mis-labeled seating and rude staff.

Read moreWe have seen a few concerts there and the shows were great, but it is ridiculous that women can't even take their purses in. I asked why and no one knew. I had to walk back to my car and leave mine, all the while hoping no one saw it and tried to steal it. That is one of the dumbest rules I have ever heard! $15 for parking on top of an already overinflated ticket price is a lot too. Then God forbid you want something to drink. They are ridiculously high also, even soda. It is all about gouging people and not being accommodating. Venues in St. Louis and Chicago are much more respectful of their audiences and that is why so many people travel there for shows. The civic center is showing its age and definitely needs revamping. Seating is cramped and if anyone in your row has to get up and leave their seat the rest of the row gets pushed and stepped on until they get out. Ushers do nothing about obnoxious people who make the experience less pleasant for the rest of us. More than once I have had to ask people to stop talking so loud so I could hear the music. Venue people let people get too drunk on their expensive adult beverages and it can be pretty frustrating. It doesn't surprise me at all that so many shows don't sell out. The civic center desperately needs a marketing director who understands the community. It could be so much nicer than it is if the staff...
