We booked our 4 night stay two months in advance with the request of a accessibility room and the Hot Tub being operational. Due to disability concerns, we chose this hotel specifically for the hot tub and accessibility of the king suites. We were informed two months earlier that the hotel was "finishing" renovations. However, the pool room and especially the hot tub, would be functional. Seeing as this all took place two months earlier than our scheduled stay, I was relieved and had hopes the manager at the time knew what they were talking about.
Now time for our stay, we checked in and the lobby was so in disrepair with mold visible on the lower portions of the walls " where the wall paper was ripped about three feet up, you can see the mold climbing higher" not sealed and not healthy for the guests.
The Hot Tub that we needed for my wife's disability and the only reason we booked months in advance at this hotel "30-minute drive from our vacation destination" turned out to be non functional. No we were never called about this change so we would have the time to change our booking, instead before ever checking in while still driving over seven hours away on the day of, we were billed for the whole stay. No notice, not even during check-in. We did not swim the first evening, but in the second, we went down to find a hole in the ground where the Hot Tub should have been filled with dirt and trash (yes, actual trash).
I informed the individual on duty at the front desk, and they informed me they were new and just brought in days earlier, so there was nothing they could do about this problem except offer their apologies.
I will not stay at this location again. Apparently, they don't listen properly when you first voice your needs months in advance and offer no notices of changes to your bookings or their properties prior to arrival. They bill you in full prior to ever setting foot on the property even though they have your full information and card details as collateral prior to checking in.
The pictures used to "sell" this property seem to be what an architects modeling of what the compete project will look like. Not the current state of the hotel. The window latches have nothing to lock to, so if you have children be very mindful, they can at any time open the third floor windows with just a screen to prevent them from falling. The window safety stops open at least 8 inches, allowing out side access.
The "finished" rooms were not finished to a complete standard for the price. These rooms are more akin to a super 8 at 70$ a night, not the almost 250$ a night I was billed. Pictures will show the "finish."
On a positive note, at least the rooms were "finished" being remodeled prior...
Read moreWhere should I begin? There’s been a list of issues at this place and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. We really considered cutting our stay a day short. Long story short, it was a bad week long stay.
To start, one of our beds had pee stained sheets. At the very top foot of the bed, we didn’t even have to search for it. We couldn’t get the sheets changed until the morning after we checked in.
We asked for fresh towels a couple of times, but towels never made it to our room. We had to go downstairs and get our own towels.
The AC intake door was severely covered in dust, it looks like it’s never been cleaned. What have we been breathing in???
Some of the equipment is in dire need of replacement, in example the office chair and the blow dryer. The blow dryer is an actually SAFETY issue and FIRE HAZARD!! And yes, we did have to use the blow dryer during our stay.
There was a big hole in the wall, but that was more of a cosmetic thing.
Our light bulbs in the restroom went out TWICE! You could hear a popping noise from the light switch, and it made me believe it was causing a short. The first time, I submitted a request to have someone put new bulbs in at 330pm, no one ever showed up. I asked again and they said it’d have to wait until morning. This made that restroom unusable, so I replaced the light bulb on my own. Again, you could still hear a popping noise. The new LED bulb only lasted a day and that one also went out. This time, maintenance actually showed up for this request.
During our stay, they replaced the lock system on our floor. This caused us to have to get new cards. For some reason, when they activate one card, it voids the others (we had 4 keys). It became a game of key tag trying to figure out who had a working key. Some how, at one point, all the keys stopped working. This happened around midnight and because of the new system, the night associate did not have access to the system’s login to make new keys, the master key also did not work! We were stuck waiting to get into our room for half an hour, thankfully someone was sleeping in our room, but waking them up was a hassle.
The informed us that unauthorized vehicles would be towed, but on our final night, there was a concert and so many goers parked in the hotel parking. This made it very difficult for us to find parking, what happened to towing those that did not have the parking pass in their windows?
Overall, this was a bad experience and I wouldn’t stay here again. The staff I spoke to were very nice and helpful, but the background staff need work (maintenance and room service). The rating would be a 1 star if it wasn’t for the...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel while on a business trip but also visiting family in our old hometown. It is in a convenient location close to downtown businesses and some hospitals. The hotel is easy to access and when I could talk to staff, they were pretty friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the hotel is understaffed, I think, because there was always a sign at the front desk to ring the bell, and judging from the room cleanliness, they didn’t have good help for cleaning. I found pieces of food garbage around the bed on the floor, and on the couch in the room. The overlayed sheet on the bed had visible dirt on it when we arrived, the shower drain was plugged so our feet took a bath every time we showered. The toilet seat was pretty worn and the toilet bowl had scratches and stains. The bathroom was not super clean, especially the counter and the tray for soap and lotion. The supplies for the room were totally under supplied and missing (someone added water to the lotion so it was runny as well). There was a sign at the front desk saying don’t expect any cleaning while you were here because we’re an extended stay hotel. So I made my own bed. We had to ask for a spare roll of toilet paper and the staff was never able to get us a box of tissues for our room the three days we stayed. It was disappointing for sure. However then I found a sign in my room saying they would change towels and make the bed, which only happened one of the three days that we were there. The building is under construction (renovation) but that really wasn’t the issue, as cleaning an individual room should be easy to accommodate even though other parts of the hotel are being renovated. But possibly a staff member could have tried to vacuum the hallway and stairs once a day since the construction workers were using these areas as well. The inside of the elevator and the stairs were always dirty on the floor. It just seemed like whoever managed the place didn’t have enough money, time, or concern to put any effort into this hotel. I know the neighborhood of downtown Peoria can be rough, but I never felt unsafe while staying there. Some of the staff seemed to truly care about doing a good job, and two out of three times we got good service from the front desk. There just wasn’t enough of them! The breakfast had lots of good foods and variety to offer, so I definitely wasn’t going hungry. The snack pantry was barely stocked with anything, so if you needed an evening snack, better get it elsewhere. This hotel has a great location on the Peoria side of the river, seems like someone should make this into a better...
