I have a couple complaints, some affirmations, and some clarifications for anyone trying to buy from this store. I purchased the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV from the store on ebay at a price that was 650$ less than what my local tech store is selling it at. They claimed the camera was new in the box (which i still presume is true). Im new to photography and did not know at the time I was getting such a good deal. I do have 2 complaints. My brother is gone for work a lot and barely gets to visit. At the time i ordered this camera, he was home to visit and would be home for another week before leaving again. Based on the location of this product, I figured it would take a few days to ship to me and we could do family pictures that weekend since he was home. Because i ordered on ebay, i was surprised to receive a call from the actual physical store the day after i placed my ebay order. Usually, all the details of an ebay transaction are finalized ebay before the sale. In this case, there was more to the transaction because a sales guy from the physical store was contacting me trying to sell me a warranty for the camera i'd already bought. This was a separate transaction external to the completed ebay transaction. The warranty was 300$ for 5 years. I asked the guy for some time to think it over. A couple days went by and i got swamped with work and did not respond back. Several voicemails were left on my machine by the sales guy. I was not initially informed that my lack of response would prevent them from shipping the item which I'd already bought. I figured, if anything, they would ship it and i would lose out on the chance to get the warranty. Especially going through ebay, the seller is required to ship a product within a certain timeframe and there arent exceptions made for external extensions of the transaction. Granted, the time frame mandated by ebay was NOT exceeded or anything but that is the logic. Despite this, they truly did not ship the product until i responded to their messages a few days later. This delayed the shipping process. Because i went with the warranty, they upgraded me to 2 day shipping but due to carrier issues, it took more than 2 days. I received the product too late to take family pics with the new camera. bummer. However, there was light at the end of the tunnel. 1st off, because they called me on the phone, i was able to get a pretty detailed explanation on why the product is sold at a reduced price and this is how i interpret what i was told: i was told all versions of this canon camera are manufactured in Japan. The products are then sold in different countries and each country has a different set of regulations which control the types of quality checks required for its products. this camera was cheaper because it underwent European quality control checks instead of American. I did not ask whether the European checks were less effective than American checks so I cant speak to that. I havent heard of people complaining about European made products so i wasnt super worried about the overall camera quality. However, there is another downside to undergoing European checks instead of American. That is, the company Canon will not honor the factory warranty on the product which you would otherwise qualify for if you had bought American. I was given the option to upgrade to the American product backed by the official Canon warranty. It was expensive and what attracted me to buy from this store in the first place was the cheaper price so I did not upgrade. Was told the 300$ store warranty had all the bells and whistles of the Canon warranty so i went with that instead. I mentioned the same camera at my local tech store was 650$ more so i still saved 350$. Was also told this store would cover shipping if i do have to send it in for fixing. Another complaint: they forgot to include a camera strap in my package. I ended up buying one from the store because i didnt realize my camera was supposed to come with one or i wouldve contacted them to send to me. Minor details. Overall very...
Read moreIt all started when I ordered this camera through amazon via a third party seller. I was going out of the country and needed it here by the weekend. Amazon shipped it with UPS and it was going to arrive on time, but the UPS near me is full of idiots and the camera got delayed, at which point i canceled the order, on a FRIDAY. After this I frantically looked on Amazon for a new seller which could get it to me FAST. Sadly, no one had 1 day shipping, so I took to google and found deals all year. I really didn’t trust them, BUT remembered seeing them on Amazon as a seller, so I thought whatever, maybe they are legit. I put a 5d on my shopping cart and proceeded to checkout just to see the shipping options, and saw that they had rush overnight shipping. This was perfect, but they didn’t generate an estimated delivery date so I just backed out of the purchase and lost all hope. Fast forward an hour and I receive an email that says “Hi, We are Deals All Year Camera and Photography. We seeing that you were trying to place an order on our website, but for reason the order stop it. Did you have ay issues placing the order or something went wrong? Please let us know to help you. Best, Ricardo Zaragosin” Notice the bad spelling. That worried me, but i sent them an email simply saying that I needed it here by Monday and was unsure of the shipping time so I didn’t order. They emailed me back asking me to call them since they can do it for me on time. I thought ok, lets try this out. I call, and a man with an accent called Kevin answers. I asked about returns and stuff, and they said they charge a restocking fee based on shutter count and time owned. But if its a defect, they can replace it for something else. I dont think they like to give you money back, but would rather give you a new product. A few minutes later a PayPal invoice comes through to my email. It stated everything that would be coming, and in the notes it said, saturday deliviry. Delivery was misspelled so that worried me too, but I paid it and didn’t look back. Forward to the next morning, the morning which the camera is supposed to arrive from New Jersey to Florida, in a day, after being bought late the day before. I said to myself, i am surely not receiving this camera. I was stressing so much, reading all the good and bad reviews, it was bad, really bad. I finally called Kevin back, on a Saturday morning mind you, and he picks up, talks with me some, calms me down and sends me a photo of my tracking number. Sure enough, the camera came at 11:30 am. Heres where it gets interesting. The camera was listed as an import model, but the Cam came like perfect. I mean perfect. The box, and every little addon were legit canon products, not gray market or aftermarket things. Even the camera had a legit serial at the bottom. The camera was brand new, unused, unopened, 0 shutter count. I truly cant be happier. Finally, Kevin asked me to write a review for him on 4 separate links. He of course asked me nicely and sugar talked me, but he did not say to make the review nice or to fake anything. So, heres the final verdict. They are very legit, have legit products for excellent prices, but their methods will 100 percent strike any normal consumer as shady or unprofessional, IE they didn't send me a tracking #, but I called and Kevin texted me it which was funny yet comforting to have his number in my pocket. Not every business can have a whole customer service department or a big enough budget to deal with all the ** that happens, or have the time to be super professional when it comes to customer relations. This is a small business no doubt. My experience was scary at first, but I stuck through it and got an incredible deal. So, my new "Import Model/Gray Market" 5D has no issues, cost me $2200 overnighted and I got mostly original canon equipment save for the battery charger. Gotta give it to them, they delivered! Thanks Kevin. GL with your orders guys. Sample 5d...
Read moreI saw a Canon RF 70-200 f2.8 at DealsAllYear, a lens that was sold out in a few of my usual camera spots and for $200 less. I was skeptical. DealsAllYear.com?? Sounded like a scam site, but seemed to have a lot of positive reviews.
I called them the next day after I ordered. They picked up quickly and asked where I purchased, either Amazon, Ebay, Google, etc. I said their site/google search. They asked me a lot of questions to find the order, again, I was like hmm. But maybe a smaller store was slightly less organized with less resources.
They said they had the order and would ship when they shipped out the rest of the orders. I ordered on Thursday morning at 8am.
They called me the next day to tell me they were preparing to ship and asked me if I wanted to buy a $150 5 year CPS warranty. Now, I was like, uh, no?? but it comes with FedEx rush shipping/ flown instead of driven by USPS. That appealed to me, but opted to go no warranty and longer shipping.
Monday comes and they call again asking me if I had decided on the warranty. This time I was open to it at a lower price to get the rush shipping - despite thinking it should have already been shipped, so I tried to negotiate the price on it. They said no, but might be able to include a filter.
So after a few calls and negotiations, they included a better filter with the lens + the warranty. I wouldn't normally have done it but it seemed like a no brainer, mainly to get rush shipping/insurance, and I was actually pretty excited about the filter as well.
Overall, very happy. I love the lens & Kolari Filter. I got it 11 days after ordering- the shipping fiasco was probably the most annoying thing, but it's a smaller store with an already given discount, so what can you do?? I'd get it here and just pay for the rush shipping if I would suggest anything. I doubt I'll use the warranty, but considering I got a more expensive filter plus shipping, it all worked out.
But to answer my initial worries, the store is absolutely legit. And Steve, my contact with the store, was super cool. I had the most fun conversations with him despite them being about the...
