During my time managing SOM’s facilities, the constant priorities were funding, constr/renov timing & budget. So despite the presence of this virtually hidden gem as a part of the Med School campus, I observed it to have been almost literally unknown and ignored. Alas, another example of human weakness – the complete absence of prioritizing the natural world. Read moreThe James G. Kaskey Park, or the Bio Pond as it's known commonly, is a small wooded area with a man-made pond and waterfall feature. The park is a part of the University of Pennsylvania. It's located on campus and can be accessed easily by pedestrians from the nearby Hamilton Walk. I'm not sure if the turtles and fish were an intentional addition or are abandoned pets, but they, along with the bull frogs, make the pond seem more "natural". Great spot to have lunch or take a small break. There are steps and slopes throughout the area.
