Washington Avenue Pier (Pier 53) — Attraction in Philadelphia

A hidden gem of the city, to the south on the riverfront trail theres a couple overgrown abandoned piers you can hike out onto. But be careful: there's a least two bums living in little plywood huts along the trail. No lie: the one guy had a bonfire going and his clothes drying on clotheslines. There's also lots of trash and the occasional transient with a shopping cart. But it's just because this area is out of the way and so there's not a lot of people, this area can be very desolate.
