2023-02-18 A perfectly nice pier reconstructed as a fishing pier in a string of old dilapidated piers along the Delaware River. Picnic tables, lots of trash bins. Ate second half of a delicious though messy chicken beef steak sandwich I just purchased from John's Roast Pork. Ate the first half walking there from John's through acres and acres of Home Depot and Walmart parking lots. Accessible via the Delaware River Trail in spite of obvious attempts to close it (for what reasons I do not know). The obvious closures have been undone by significant openings of the chicken wire fence allowing bike and foot traffic to pass. Pier 68 exists between adjacent piers which are tent cities. The USS United States is docked a bit south of here.

It was empty when I arrived this warm (40F) February day. A few more people had arrived by the time I had left.

The people in the tents were beginning to stir.

I...

Pier 68 in Philadelphia is a delightful spot that has been transformed from an industrial past to a vibrant public space. It’s a place where the community can engage with the waterfront in various ways, whether it’s through fishing, lounging on the lawn, or simply enjoying the view of the river as boats pass by. The pier’s design incorporates smooth surfaces and angular geometries, offering a modern aesthetic that contrasts with the natural flow of the river. The addition of the Delaware River Trail has increased accessibility, making it a popular destination for locals and visitors alike who are looking to experience the Philadelphia Waterfront in a new light. With a perfect 5-star rating, it’s clear that Pier 68 has become a cherished part of the...

Yup. This place is absolutely amazing. It’s right next to the Walmart, Home Depot, shoe store, home goods, McDonald’s, a gas station, strip club, a really big road, train, huge parking lot. There’s a big river you can see Camden and be happy you’re on the side of the river. You can also see the Ben Franklin and the Walt Whitman Bridge you can see a garbage disposal incinerator across the way I’ll tack. Tons of buildings. The skyline. I’ll see you can see the Townhall and city downtown area of Camden. The water is delicious Lee metallic brown green. And there’s tons of seating tons of fencing so you can feel secure. This also...

Went for my first run of the season this morning. It's definitely still a little chilly, 38°, but warm enough to work up a little sweat as you settle into your run. The fresh air at the pier is perfect to get you in the mood... #Spring #AlmostSummer
