2023-02-18 A perfectly nice pier reconstructed as a fishing pier in a string of old dilapidated piers along the Delaware River. Picnic tables, lots of trash bins. Ate second half of a delicious though messy chicken beef steak sandwich I just purchased from John's Roast Pork. Ate the first half walking there from John's through acres and acres of Home Depot and Walmart parking lots. Accessible via the Delaware River Trail in spite of obvious attempts to close it (for what reasons I do not know). The obvious closures have been undone by significant openings of the chicken wire fence allowing bike and foot traffic to pass. Pier 68 exists between adjacent piers which are tent cities. The USS United States is docked a bit south of here.
It was empty when I arrived this warm (40F) February day. A few more people had arrived by the time I had left.

Read moreYup. This place is absolutely amazing. It’s right next to the Walmart, Home Depot, shoe store, home goods, McDonald’s, a gas station, strip club, a really big road, train, huge parking lot. There’s a big river you can see Camden and be happy you’re on the side of the river. You can also see the Ben Franklin and the Walt Whitman Bridge you can see a garbage disposal incinerator across the way I’ll tack. Tons of buildings. The skyline.
