Amp Island — Attraction in Phoenix

For easiest access to this island, park at the 1218-1220 Encanto parking lot. This island was across from the amusement park and right by the lot. You'll see a sign and there is a bridge. From there, you can begin your journey around Amp Island. There are several red arched bridges and palm trees dance in the breeze. There is some shaded in certain areas from trees and I also saw some open air unshaded picnic tables. There are ducks swimming around and a tranquil water fountain. It was neat, but the area has a kind of felt small and compressed with all the bridges. Plus, I could still see the parking lot so it was kind of meh. Also note- well before 8 am and I ran into several people while walking around- too busy...

It is fun to have to cross bridges to get onto this picnic island. You can see boats, ducks and geese swimming around in the moat but the bathrooms and playgrounds are a few bridges and several paths over. I would make sure I was closer to the playground. The entrance to the Enchanted amusement park is closer to Amp Island than the playground, just a bridge away. Anyone can picnic on the island for free during the week but on the weekends you are required to have a reservation. All the playgrounds here are covered with wood chips. I didn't see any graffiti.
