Ashtanga Yoga Phoenix is my absolute favorite yoga studio. I have been taking classes there for about six months now. Although this has been my first experience with Ashtanga yoga, over the years, I have tried different styles of yoga and attended classes at various yoga studios and gyms, and this is the first time that I have felt compelled to write a review to share my experience. I hope that others will give this yoga studio a try and fall in love with its community as much as I have.
In my opinion, the main reason why Ashtanga Yoga Phoenix is so incredible is because of its instructors. At this time, due to my schedule, I have only taken classes taught by Cindy H., who is the studio owner and the main instructor, and Ramona C., who teaches both Ashtanga yoga and Yin yoga classes. So, I can only speak to my experience with them, but I intend to try the other classes and workshops as well. Cindy and Ramona exude compassion and kindness. You can tell by the way they lead their classes and treat everyone that they genuinely care for each student’s physical and mental well-being. They provide individualized attention when needed or desired and emphasize practicing yoga at your own pace.
You do not need to be flexible to start practicing yoga and the instructors will provide you modified positions if you have certain injuries or needs. This studio is for people of all ages and experience. They offer teacher-led group classes as well as what’s called Mysore classes, during which each student practices Ashtanga yoga at their own pace while an instructor oversees the entire class and assists each student individually. The environment and the various class offerings allow you to have the type of practice you want—whether you want a meditative practice or a physical workout (or both).
I’m so grateful to have discovered Ashtanga Yoga Phoenix, because my family and I have noticed a positive change to my physical and mental well-being since joining the studio. I hope to see...
Read moreI practice yoga daily in some form or another, but have very little experience with Ashtanga. I wandered in one morning for Mysore after Googling Ashtanga practices near me, not knowing what to expect. My experience was and has been amazing. I have received hands on, one-on-one adjustments and feedback that have helped my physical practice grow in only a matter of days vs what would surely be a matter of months in a Vinyasa based physical practice. The teachers there are knowledgeable, patient and take a great amount of pride in what they do. I highly recommend for anyone - advanced Ashtangis, or even those new to...
