Hurricane Harbor Phoenix and the staff and First Aid Station
Six Flags is constantly getting harped on but I wanted to take a moment to talk about how incredible the staff and EMTs in the First Aide station are at Hurricane Harbor Phoenix.
Two days ago I had to drive around in my car and the AC went out during my initial departure. I live in Phoenix, and it was ~118-120°F outside. Inside my car it was a sweltering 160-170°F and I had to spend 4 hours on the road. I got heat exhausted but thought I was OK today, so the family and I went to Hurricane Harbor Phoenix.
I spent about an hour in the lazy river, felt fine. My lanyard came disconnected with my ID and both my debit card, my gf's debit card, my membership badge and a six flags gift card, and I panicked. I went around the entire lazy river looking for it (and asking lifeguards) and waited 20 minutes by entrance of the lazy river to see if it would float by.
A lifeguard (Devon?) saw it, scooped it, and handed it off to another lifeguard to take to Lost & Found. I saw them walking with it and lit up! They returned it with a smile.
I then went and got food, lost track of my family while doing so, and eventually found myself seeking shelter in the indoor food area.
5 full glasses of ice water and Gatorade later, I recognized I was still burning up and getting worse by the minute. I went to the fully shaded First Aid entrance and sat on a bench. But as minutes passed, I felt something was wrong ~ I wasn't cooling down at all. I felt worse and worse, like my body was heating up beyond my limits.
I went into the First Aid office to ask if it was air conditioned and all the EMTs greeted me and said they had water and fans and that I could come into the coldest part of the room to cool off and lay down if I needed.
They got me ice packs, additional water, electrolyte liquid, fans. They were beyond courteous. As more time passed, I felt like I was going to vomit. They brought me a bio bag, and a trash can. I kept feeling my salivary glands swelling but I couldn't go over the edge to get it over with.
They asked if I felt I needed to go to the ER, which I declined because I felt OK, but I felt my body wasn't sweating enough. They brought more ice packs as requested and really catered to my ailments. They had me hooked up to an oxygen/bp/heart rate monitor.
They watched over me and ensured I was lucid, adjusted the fan as I laid there cooling off with ice packs. No judgment, just professional, courteous EMTs that make me feel welcomed.
After an hour, they found my family and got them reunited with me. The EMTs made my family feel calm and assured and welcomed as well.
Another 20 minutes went by and I felt good enough to go (the park was closing). I truly believe I was on the cusp of having a heat stroke, and the EMTs really saved me.
Huge shout out to Devon (?) the lifeguard at the lazy river that found my lanyard and returned it to me through someone else.
Massive shout out to all the EMTs in the first aid station, specifically Adrian who was there with me the entire time ensuring I was cared for; he made me feel like I was with family before my family even got there.
I've never experienced heat exhaustion like I did two days ago, and wasn't aware that even though I felt fine that I was still very much subject to the effects of it today.
Despite that, I had a great time at HH PHX today and I'm really glad the staff there are properly trained, professional, courteous, and caring.
Seriously I wish they knew how much their caring meant to me. Because one saved me from massive financial headache, and the others saved my life, literally.
Thank you Devon and Adrian at Six Flags...
Read moreMy family of 7 visited on July 3rd. I bought tickets online (you definitely want to buy online to save quite a bit of money) along with renting a cabana. I also bought tickets in advance without reading reviews and once I did read reviews I was regretting and stressed because of all the negativity. Our overall experience was great and I'm glad we chose to see for ourselves. The only thing I noticed closed this day was the paradise island and the app was not correct so would not rely on that.
My four stars was mostly because I believe the price of food and things could be much more affordable and tubes rental are a scam. I know it's normal to go anywhere and things be expensive but this was more than that. It's insane.. Also our cabana had a storage box that we could not use because it had dirty diapers and trash thrown it for who knows how long and it smelled so bad. The plus to the cabana was we got two single tube's and one double tube included and to bring a cooler with food and drinks ( there is a extra fee of $32).
The wave pool had waves not beach waves that will knock you over but family friendly waves that my little ones could enjoy. They were bigger to the left of the pool. Most of the life guards I observed were doing their job fairly well.
I had a couple encounters with employees. One while walking to our cabana. A very pleasant younger women approached us while walking that direction and luckily we had told her which one we were heading to and she said she was moving us to different one because the fan was not working in the one we had rented. Also she had gave me info that the main entrance didn't and that was I needed to go over the cabana rental desk and receive our wrist bands and waters along with were to get tubes (unfortunately they were hot waters but the fridge cooled them up by the time we were ready for them). The other was the ladies in the ice cream shop she was very sweet and helpful..
For parking, that's a very interesting situation. We got there an hour early and nobody was working the parking lot, five minutes before open someone finally started charging for parking. Get there early and you might save 27 dollars. Very annoying as I had paid for speedy parking that was pointless because there were plenty open spots when got there. We ended up parking ourselves where the resevered parking was since they had our tag info to show we purchased (not sure they even checked tho).
There were of course long lines and waits to get on rides. Plenty of rental tube's where still available. I do think renting tube's is unnecessary and puts an unnecessary stress having to keep up and carry them around when different rides have different tubes. Why not just have them available at the rides they are needed at that way they aren't throw all over the seating areas and walk ways. Also how are you expected to keep them from getting taking when you have to leave it to ride different things. Makes no sense honestly. Just a way to get more money.
Bathrooms, the smaller most convenient one had only one toilet working and people waited in that line for that . The main entrance restrooms was fairly clean with wet floor but definitely not soaked in urine. The restrooms by the paradise island were not being used much so it was clean and dry.
Overall we had a great and very exhausting time. We wouldn't do it more than once a summer with little ones but was worth it. Maybe we just went on a lucky day but we...
Read moreOn July 27, 2024, my family and I visited Hurricane Harbor Phoenix after purchasing six tickets for the day. While we accept the fact that the park's closing time at 5:00 PM, one should really update the information that is immediately available when doing a quick search of the park, we were more disappointed to find that several of the rides were no longer available. Per the display the rides had been closed for the day, which was 2.5 hours prior to the websites closing times. This significantly impacted our experience and essentially defeated the purpose of our trip to the park.
As all but one person are out-of-town visitors, and celebrating two birthdays this experience was particularly disappointing and inconvenient for us. We had looked forward to enjoying a full day at Hurricane Harbor Phoenix, and the unavailability of rides greatly diminished our enjoyment and the value of our tickets. Might also consider informing the public online, prior to purchasing tickets that some, or all of their favorite rides and attractions wouldn't be available, as one would consider finding other, less expensive things to do while visiting Arizona. Informing the public about the truth would cause a decline in sales I am sure, and doing the right thing seems too difficult where money is the bottom line.
After entering the park, and seeing the massive lines due to the closures of prominent attractions, we were forced to leave the park and not get on a single ride, have a single beverage or even eat. TICKETS WASTED! I have been directed to a chat for a quicker response so the website says, however I have been in this chat waiting for a live representative longer that it took me to purchase tickets, get into the car, drive to the park, get out of our vehicles, enter the park and leave the park. Make it make sense. I called the park and there isn't a single option to actually speak to someone! If only these chat bots could actually solve complaints and issue refunds. In my now research of the park I see a horrific article dated from 2024, ranking it the worse park and another from 2022, where consumers are actually paying more and getting LESS and of course a representative blamed that on staffing issues. When do we get to stop saying staffing issues and address the real issues, and if one can't really look and evaluate, close it down and stop taking money from consumers.
Was told 8/9 that a refund would be issued Was sent an email 9/5 that they’re not responsible for weather email 9/7 that their times are subject to change without notice. Called them, rep asked me to hold 30 min later call disconnect! The worse won’t visit ANY of their...
