Edit: Updated to 1 star because it is less than 2 weeks since my appt, and my pedicure is already chipping. A good pedicure should last me around 6 weeks.
TLDR: They will LIE TO YOUR FACE and claim you “can’t tip using your card” and “must pay tip in cash,” even though the payment machine CLEARLY allows card tips. They wait until after services are done to spring this on you, then point you to their ATM. Even if you call ahead to make an appt, they will not give you a heads-up about this policy, AKA lie.
This would’ve been a 1-star review, EXCEPT FOR:
THE GOOD Le’s Passion Nails is a clean salon with plenty of staff. They honored an appt I made weeks in advance for 3 simultaneous pedicures on Mother’s Day. The employees who did our pedicures were nice and did a GREAT job. Prices were decent. Now for:
THE BAD I called April 24th to schedule 3 pedicures for May 11th (Mother’s Day). The person confirmed a spot at 11 AM for all three. That was the extent of the call.
On May 11th, we arrived on time and were seated quickly. About 45 minutes later, I finished first and went to pay (I was covering all 3 services). The man at the counter told me the total was $154. I handed him my CREDIT card, intentionally using it to avoid using bank funds. He ran the card and ONLY THEN said, “We only accept tips in cash.” I asked him to confirm: I couldn’t add a tip using the machine? He said no. The payment machine was a modern screen model (like Square), so this made no sense.
Then, as he turned the screen for my signature, I saw “$154.00 + 0.00 tip” at the top. So, clearly, tipping via card IS possible. He manually set the tip to $0, lied about my options, and pushed me toward the ATM.
I said I didn’t have cash (who carries cash these days?), and he just gestured to the ATM behind me. I realized this was deliberate. He processed the transaction with a $0 tip, then tried to pressure me into using their ATM to get cash. He flat-out lied about what the payment machine could do.
Now, sure, I could have left without tipping. But the man at the register wasn’t one of our techs, and I wanted to make sure the actual pedicurists got compensated. So, I had two choices: argue, or use the ATM. It was Mother’s Day and not the time for a scene.
So, I asked again if I could really not tip via card. Again, he said no. I begrudgingly went to the ATM and tried to withdraw $30 (a 20% tip). Surprise, it only allowed multiples of $20. The man (who was still watching my transaction) told me that was the rule. Why was he monitoring my withdrawal? Who knows.
Annoyed, I withdrew $20 and gave it to him. He barely acknowledged it with a dry “thanks,” then muttered to coworkers. He was clearly annoyed at the 12% tip.
So, now I’ve tipped 12% instead of 20%, had to use my debit card, and pay an ATM fee. All because of their SCAM they refused to tell me about up front.
In summary, Le’s Passion Nails hides behind deceptive practices. They won’t inform you of their “cash tip only” SCAM when you call or even before services begin. Then, they’ll LIE and say the machine doesn’t support tipping by card, when it obviously does. You’re then pressured into using their ATM and withdrawing more than you might want, because it only allows multiples of $20.
Why not mention this when I called on April 24th? Why not say something on May 11th before services began? What if I only had a credit card? Or no money in my debit account? Why is lying to customers about their options so acceptable here?
It all feels like a scheme to avoid reporting tips to the IRS. Whether that’s true or not, I’ll never return or recommend this...
Read moreI have been going to this nail Salon predominantly for 5 years off and on, with no issues so the stars come from that. I have tried out 3 other nail salons in the area because I want to try them all out to see who is the best for me. I like the way passion does my dip nails and i found a different place next to frys that does heavenly foot massages with thier pedicures.
I am not the type to make a scene, the way I work is I learn from an experience and I never allow it to happen again. After work, I went to get acrylic removed from my nails and dip put on. In the end, my nails were pretty. I had two issues that really bothered me. I decided to wait days before writing this review to see if it still bothers me, it does.
The tech filed my nails so hard that on 1 finger it went through my skin. It burned for 2 days. That has never happened to me before by other techs who did dip on my nails at this salon. I was told it was going to be 55 by the nail tech. In the normal process of removing acrylic she said it will be 58. I told her, you told me it was 55, she said your nails are hard, very hard. That has never happened to me in my 30+ years of going to nail salons. My nails were not some scary jurassic claws, it was simply removing acrylic that was half way off my nail and putting on dip. Don't change the price because you can't handle something. Not cool.
I paid it but i will respectful decline to ever have that nail tech do my nails again and I just hope it isn't a problem when I decline to have any service done by that specific tech.
I don't know her name but I know she is an older woman who sits next to a man in the corner back in front of the TV. No hard feelings but she just isn't the right nail tech for me at all. They do have a lot of new techs. It is like going to a hair salon you want to only go to the lady or guy you always go to. In the past i could go to anyone and get great service, now it...
Read moreJacked me up, real bad. I should’ve known when he led me back to one of the last chairs that I was going to get garbage service. I’m so disappointed because I’ve been here so many times getting eyebrows, waxed and pedicures, but this is the first time I trusted them with my nail fill and I feel like they serve you based on how they feel about your appearance. I’m just gonna say it I feel like based on what they saw, maybe they didn’t think I was a good tipper or they didn’t think I would care, but my nails are FUGLY! Anybody can do a fill I already had a set I just needed a fill, but this technician left lumps in my nails and didn’t even get to the cuticle. So many of the nails are lumpy, and I got matte polish only for it to be shiny in some areas because the tech didn’t polish the whole nail with the matte topcoat. I literally should’ve just stayed with my grown out nails and not even got the feel because I was in worse condition when I left. It was so disappointing and it was so bad but the manager actually gave me a discount. Have you ever in your life received a discount at a nail salon? No, because the manager could see how bad they were that he felt embarrassed. Maybe they’re safe for a pedicure and an eyebrow wax, but do not trust them with nails when you’re in a bind. My issue is that it’s hard for me to find a babysitter at certain times when they’re not busy, so I had an opportunity to leave work early before I pick my kids up from daycare and this was a waste of my free time. I will not be back. Don’t do it even if you’re in a bind and just need something simple. Look at the photos, and that’s just...
