We enjoyed our stay. I’d recommend the place and hence the 4 star review but … without the view and related amenities (beach, pool, firepits, …) there were a few misses that are worth a note. Hits/Positives: * As noted, the views are fantastic and the rooms are set up to take advantage of the hotel’s perch atop the cliff. We couldn’t get enough of the views. The room is also nice and was clean and comfortable. Appreciated the fridge in the room. Also appreciated that the sliding door had a screen. Wifi worked fine too. Always a bonus. The private beach was nice. Misses/Negatives: With just minor adjustments to these areas this could have been a five star experience: * First, upon arrival and check-in, there was a 4-5pm wine reception. Sounded great and we took advantage but it fell flat. There was a white wine and a red wine … and we opted for the white. What followed was perhaps a 2 ounce pour of a very poor quality pinot grigio. We did not try the red. Seriously, serve a better quality wine and pour a regular glass of wine. It won’t break the bank. * Breakfast/Coffee … room coffee was a Keurig machine. We hoped for better in the breakfast room but found the machine there delivered a tepid brew. (We eventually walked down the street to the Steaming Bean and you should too.) The other breakfast offering sampled didn’t make a good impression. Eggs, breakfast potatoes & link sausage. Sampled but did not finish. Not good. Suggestions: * Simple step-up in wine at the 4pm hour and actually pour a glass. Maybe offer at least crackers with it. * Drop the variety and just get some quality croissants and coffee. Keep the waffles and yogurt if you must but the current coffee, eggs, potatoes and sausage aren’t making the grade.

Location is great, ocean view which is what we were looking for. The front desk gentleman seemed a little agitated. My husband and I drove just under 3 hours to get to the hotel, with our pooch and was greeted with an eye roll which I don’t even think the guy at the desk was conscious of doing. He was checking in another guest. I definitely didn’t get a smile or welcoming. I stood in line and waited patiently for him to complete the check in for the guest. Once it was my turn he got a call from a guest with questions for a check in tomorrow.. personally I feel like he should have put them on hold since I was already next in queue. But nope I waited while he fluttered his eyes at the call conversation… finally he got to me and he put his customer face on finally and checked us in. What I didn’t really like is I booked online with a room titled “Dog friendly king room” it was a lot more expensive than the standard and I chose it because I have a pooch… it said my TOTAL for the dog room would be $341 for the night at check out. But at the desk another $100 was added…. Which I thought was already added to the total when I booked. A little misleading. The room itself was ok, the floors seemed updated (laminated) but bathroom outdated. Views were great! Side of a cliff facing the ocean! The walk down to the cove is a little unsafe and eerie. We went around 7am. Breakfast was great, I loved being able to make a fresh waffle. Good options, and included in stay. The property was calm and quiet, nice mini getaway. And escape from the summer heat. Close to everything.

Amazing location with amazing views from the updated rooms with wood tile flooring (I hate carpet in hotel rooms so this was a plus). However the air conditioning units are very old and very loud with a vibration like noise that is horrific and hard on the ears. I placed a call the first night to try to resolve the issue but did not get a call back until the following day when I requested a standing fan that was brought to my room but was visibly dirty and blew out little black specks when it was on. Yuck! For a beachfront property these rooms get very stuffy and sauna like as there is no cross ventilation. For the price that one pays to stay at this Inn, I would highly recommend replacing all of the air conditioning units and at a minimum installing ceiling fans in all of the rooms. There are great walking paths in front of the Inn with swinging hammocks to take in the beautiful view. There is also a cove with stair access in front of the hotel which provided lots of beach exploration for my daughter. I love that this location is pet friendly but being charged $50 per night for the first three nights is excessive. Unbeknownst to me I was put in a non pet friendly room and was charged $75 per night for the two nights we stayed. I booked a pet friendly room and feel like they should have honored the $50 per night pet rate. We stayed for my daughter's birthday and when the manager found out he arranged to have some vending machine type items at the front desk for her on her bday which was a nice touch. I would definitely love to stay at this Inn another time as the location can't be beat but not until they get the air conditioning system updated.

Very beautiful hotel & hidden cove! Did a two night stay in their Ocean Front King for our Anniversary. The best way to book was through the Hotel website and we chose advanced purchase rate. We will definitely plan to stay there again! The staff were super nice and told us of some popular eateries to go to for dinner. Complimentary breakfast had a variety of options and a nice sitting area if you didn't want to take it back to your room. Our little patio had the best view to enjoy our morning breakfast & coffee from. Is it wrong, my favorite part was the Keurig in the room with little k-cups?! Room was very clean, the bed was very comfy for the picky sleeper that I am. Shower was nice and came with bathrobes to use. The grounds were very well kept and beautiful, they have a great secluded gazebo if you're looking for a romantic set up. The hidden cove was a plus to adventure during low-tide but the stairs are pretty steep! Plenty of scenic spots to take photos.

ALERT!! The place is a TRAP!! Checked in on a Friday and I was asked to agree to sign off $1,200 credit to my room for incidentals. I was under the impression that I booked a room at about $300 per night. Upon checking out I got a detailed receipt. Friday night was at $474 plus taxes, then Saturday night was $635 plus taxes. I was surprised that highway robbery is even happening in hotels. My mistake was not to ask what was the nightly rate. Anyways, the hotel is worth $180.00 per day. All amenities were second rate. Accommodations were tired and needed a remodel. NO HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE not even at $635. Bathroom sink was cracked. Breakfast was second rate as well. The only positive is the ocean front location but it was annoying to listen the clerk state that they have exclusive beach access. I was not interested to inform them that the Coast belongs to all Californians. Stay at the place at $180 per night and not a cent more.
