Mystery Stairs — Attraction in Pismo Beach

This is a hidden gem beach area. Many people would miss this place as the access to the beach is hidden behind hotels.

We parked at Seacrest hotel and walk down the stairs to the beach behind the hotel pool.

Once you’re down on beach, the whole place becomes magical. It transports you to a scene in a Greek island with the white rocks.

It’s best to go during low tide which should be in the morning for the summer time.

First of all, the navigation will take you to park in the resort that is above the stairs- which you are not allowed to. So make sure to find a place nearby to park without getting a fine. Then you have to get down to the beach and even if it’s lowtide you might get wet since it’s a walk to the stairs- maybe 10 mins or less. But we’ve seen a family playing and running around down there , we didn’t really make it because we parked at the resort and didn’t want to stay that long, but...

Several ways to access Mystery Stairs between businesses and motels, hotels. It's a hike down several flights of stairs to the beautiful, rocky then sand beach. Best to go at low tide. Wear water shoes. Don't go in flip flops, leather or dress shoes - lots of loose, big and small rocks to climb over at the bottom of the stairs and along the beach. Pack in pack out....
