This spot is a favorite wedding spot, with a gazebo, a point over 80 foot bluffs, and ocean views on 3 sides. My sister married here 6 years ago, and her marriage is going strong. We decorated the gazebo with sunflowers and tulle. Another friends wedding, we gave them a solid inch deep carpet of rose petals for their procession. It turned into a barefoot wedding unplanned. The rose petals were stunningly sensual in that abundance. There were lots of feet pictures! 🤣 I would be remiss if I left out the close view of Browner's Rock which has been designated a National Monument and used to be reached by a swinging cable bridge over the tidal gorge. Now it is a roost for mostly pelicans, which are paleo like and pretty cool to watch, instead of people. No structures on top to mar wedding photos. Caves to explores down below for the more intrepid tide pool cliff clingers and kayakers, depending on the tide levels. There are sea stars, starfish with many arms and all the very cool tide pool treasures to awe you, but you get there from a circuitous route, not from the park above. People marry here without reservations, but it is risky if you invite anyone or decorate. Someone else coild reserve it with the city parks and rec department and boot you right out. So reserve if you are marrying! The rest of the time we all just enjoy walking sitting viewing the whales, sunsets, scenery, neighbors and tourists. There are drinking fountains for you and your pooch, and mutt mitts, butt you have to walk 3 blocks away to find a public restroom or childrens play structure. This is NOT a bring your kids and let them run park. It is surrounded by tall cliffs only locals clamber all over with ease, giving their parents...
Read moreNice kids park with huge structures on it, decent parking around the corner- we stopped to take photos and immediately some guy upwind lit up weed.(learn the law on where to smoke weed in Cali, please. It is allowed indoors on private property! Not at parks, gas stations or dmv lines-true story! )That ended it for us as my daughter is highly allergic to it- her lungs and throat start closing up. Each incidence is getting worse and it's getting scary, I had the epi pen ready to use, this time.
Back to the park. (But seriously think twice about lighting up ur funny grass in public- there are people who stop breathing because of it, please please be conscious and considerate of that)
There is stairs leading down to the beach area- it's a lot of stairs! And the rocks are crazy neat with holes in them settled in the ocean. Pretty pics, and really neat that coast guard heli and boat come to play- I hope it was just exercises and not a real emergency (The guys in the heli waved at us, so -keep up the great work CGs! You guys rock!l)
Pretty views , great play structures, and pretty easy...
Read moreThis precious gem is located in the Shell Beach area, adjacent to 'Dinosaur Caves Park' with plenty of parking. Here, you can admire the caves in the water (even more if you bring your binoculars). You'll find a gazebo, benches to sit and enjoy the beautiful views and simply relax. This is such a peaceful spot, clean, grassy, and dog-friendly. I liked that the water fountains also have a bottom bowl fountain for the doggies! Such a cool thing to help keep our furry babies hydrated. They also have a poop-bag dispenser in case you forget to bring any. Overall, we enjoyed the tranquil setting of this park dedicated in honor of Margo Dodd, a civic and...
