Well read the reviews about outdated but clean and location and decided to give this place a try. We really wish we hadn’t. First it is clean and the employees were nice BUT the location is just ok, not as close as people made it out to be.Lots of places that are closer. The walk to the beach is short BUT the steps going down were too much for my bad knee, approx 50!!! We had to drive to an easier place to get on the sand. The rooms, well there are lots of dogs in the hotel and all barked at some point in the day. We had a balcony room with a partial view, part of that view was a parking area so constant people walking by and you could hear every single word they said and them , you! Keeping the slider open was difficult for ANY privacy. The water… this is the hardest water I have ever had the non pleasure of using. Soap won’t wash off, i switched to a soap brought from home, still won’t wash off. I use high end shampoo and conditioner, took forever to rinse them out and my hair came out brittle and dry. Googled hard water and yep, all the above. I didn’t want to wash up because of how it all felt but had to anyway. Yuck Then there was the 2am check with a small child above us. The child was running back and forth for 20 minutes, it sounded like an elephant stampede. I finally broke down and called the front desk and Paulo answers. I explained the jolting noise that woke me at 2AM, and his response was, “they just checked in, I’ll keep an eye on them” !!! WTH? Keep an eye on them, what does that mean? You won’t call them and say HEY KEEP IT DOWN? Do you have a camera in their room? Someone will go up every 5 minutes to see if they are STILL making noise? What does that mean? I was not very happy but after i questioned that and he just repeated it, I gave up and hung up. I’m too sleepy to argue. I laid there and listened to the child run more laps and wondered WHY his parents had no clue there were others trying to sleep at 2:45!!! Room service, well that’s a whole nother story. We saw the maids in the hall every day, not one time did they clean our room. If you were supposed to ask for service, no one told us . There were 4-5 maids, always saw them all in one room. Never our room but usually a couple doors down in 214. Even saw one of the maids hanging out in front of that door one time?? All in all, we weren’t impressed. We come to Pismo often, we won’t be coming back here. P.S. Hubby just reminded me, toilet flushing is quite an adventure. It may or may not flush, sometimes one flush sometimes 4....
Read moreRate rooms 3: average. Stood two nights in two different rooms. First room was clean, close to pool and entrance to the beach. Second room was on second floor with partial oven view and a small balcony. Room was clean but sheets were dirty on both beds. We slept on top of sheets so didn’t notice this until we pulled off the sheets making it easier for room service.
Rate service a 3: front desk were friendly and welcoming. I give them a 5. However, when we came back to the room at 10pm from having a family night at the drive in my husband noticed a worker with his ear against someone’s door. Once that man seen my husband watching him he walked away. This made us all feel uneasy, then as we were all taking our showers, getting ready for bed my husband decided to look out the peephole. He seen a worker with his ear against our door. So my husband quickly opened the door and asked him what he was doing. The man asked my husband if we made a noise complaint. Told him we just got back to the room so no. When I checked out I informed the front desk about this. She said when someone makes a noise complaint they try to find out who it is. I feel like this is invading privacy and of course we’re gonna make noise in our room when we shower, use the restroom, brush our teeth , watching tv etc. we weren’t having a party. if you have to put your ear on the door to hear if someone is being noisy are they really causing a disturbance?
Location a 5: Perfect location . Stairs that lead down to the Beach and close enough to walk into town.
Overall rating a 4: they’re pet friendly but there is no grass to walk your pet. The dog run area was full of long weeds and not able to use. There is small dog area by the pool but it has no grass. So this makes it difficult to take your dog out to use the restroom. I had to walk a short distance to find grass. At night cars are parked by the beach entrance making out in their cars. Don’t like this especially when my kids are with me. In the morning they offer free coffee, tea, orange juice, apple juice , muffin,...
Read moreOur experience at Edgewater Inn & Suites was beyond disappointing. After planning a Central Coast Beach trip for our extended family and traveling all the way from North Carolina to California, we booked rooms at Edgewater, a place we hadn’t visited in a decade. I specifically reserved the Luxury Suite and called the hotel to confirm if it had an ocean view. Jessica, the General Manager, informed me it did not, and advised me to book the Balcony Suite for guaranteed ocean views. I followed her advice while on the phone, and she confirmed everything was set. I even received multiple confirmation emails from Hotels.com assuring me the reservation was secured.
Fast forward two months — after paying in full and traveling across the country with a 2-year-old and a 5-year-old — I received a call from Edgewater just hours before check-in stating they only had a cancelled reservation on file and no active booking for us. I spent three exhausting hours on the phone trying to resolve the issue, but Edgewater’s only solution was offering us a lower-level room, explaining they gave our original room to someone else staying longer than us. It felt like a convenient excuse to make more money.
The hotel then offered a refund and suggested we book elsewhere. How generous — but wasn’t our reservation already “cancelled”? And good luck finding a reasonably priced hotel at the last minute during a weekend!
In the end, we had to stay at a completely different hotel away from our family, without the ocean view we had planned for. Bottom line: don’t book with Edgewater Inn & Suites. A confirmation and secured room means absolutely...
