Steel Mill has few kinks to iron out since they just opened but overall I think this place is a great addition to the neighborhood. I’ll start with the pros: All of the staff was very friendly. I had the impossible burger with an espresso martini and my boyfriend had a fish sandwich with a beer. Both of us enjoyed our meals. The espresso martini was REALLY good. We paid about $55 before tip and I feel like that was a fair price. A few cons that won’t stop me from going back, but that I hope steel mill can work out over time. The biggest thing is that they have a V for vegan next to an ahi tuna taco on the menu. Anything that is sourced from an animal is not vegan. I’m not sure if this was a menu typo or a misunderstanding. We were not given a bill at the end. Our waitress just offered to run my card (I had to ask her what the total was) and then didn’t print a receipt (I’m sure she would have if I had asked). Not a huge deal, but not something I’d ever experienced at a restaurant before and there were no prices listed next to any of the drinks. Overall, a fun and friendly atmosphere with good food and yummy drinks. I’m happy to see this place finally open and we will for sure be back :)

A terrible experience from start to finish. I called a few days before the Super Bowl in response to an ad on our local neighborhood’s Facebook page. Someone I spoke to told me to come in to purchase the tickets. I drive down, and everyone is confused as they have no tickets. I ended up paying and being told to hold onto my receipt for proof. Before leaving I was asked for my name and what time I would be arriving. I asked what time food would be served and was told 6:15-6:30. We arrive tonight, at 6:20 and are “greeted” by a male host with a shaved head. I tell him I have 3 tickets to the event. He’s a bit rude and acts rushed, however it was not that busy in there. The other members in my party notice how unwelcoming he was. We shook it off - as we were excited for the buffet and the game. We had one plate of food each - which was stale nacho chips, mushy pasta, soggy mozzarella sticks, cheap chicken nuggets. Really cheap and it was embarrassing to bring an out of state guest to. The food was horrible. Once we finished 1 plate our waitress was trying to wrap up our check already! Never again.

Overall disappointing experience. Clearly relies on good location rather than good food and service. Asked for lemons with water and were served the lemons a few minutes after the water on a bar napkin instead of a small plate. Basil lemonade vodka came out with dead black basil. Ordered seared sesame tuna with soba noodles, tempura and soy. After a 45 minute wait, we were served half the plate just tuna, mayo and 3 cucumber slices. Server didn’t mention the ingredients change ahead of time or else I would have ordered something else. They were going to charge the full $17 until we pointed out they only served part of the dish. Had to argue with the manager to explain this wasn’t what was on the menu. Wasabi avocado aioli had no wasabi flavor and turned brown from the avocado. Needed a splash of citrus to prevent the brown. After 15 minutes of waiting for pepper, we went to another server for it. Very average food at the rest of my 6 top and poor service.

If I could give no stars, I would. After we sat down we waited for at least 15 minutes to be asked what we wanted to drink, at that point we are ready for to place our whole order. We waited 10 more minutes to get our drinks. Two of us got salads too, which should be given to you first right…nope not here. By the time we got our food it had been almost an hour. The ranch was soooo watery I had to use a little extra to even taste it. My husband got a prime rib sandwich and the sauce for that was maybe filled half way. When our server was walking to the kitchen we asked for 2 more ranch and more au jus sauce. She comes out empty handed and starts a full blown conversation with another table and was there for at least 10 minutes while we cant even finish our meal bc we’ve been waiting on the sauce. In the end I was only able to eat 1.5 chicken tenders out of my 4. Finally after we are done being patient, we ask another server, can we get boxes and our check. She brings the boxes but says the server will get our check at that point we are like well when will that be we asked for sauce like 10 min ago?? We paid 3.75 for a pop and she never even came over to give us one refill the whole 1 something hours we were there. Absolutely horrible. There was at least 10 employees walking back and forth, and there was maybe 5 other tables. Will never go back. If you want somewhere that’s fast, has good service, good food, and has fun stuff to do, go to...

Horrible, horrible, horrible service!!! I took out of town guest here on a slow Monday afternoon to get a cool drink on a hot day. I’ve been bragging about what a wonderful city Pittsburgh is to my West coast family and the experience at Steel Mill Saloon made a liar out of me. The RUDE, nasty waitress approached us with an attitude. She did NOT want to serve us in any way. She literally rolled her eyes when we gave her our drink order. My father is hard of hearing and speaks quietly. She embarrassed him to death by repeatedly asking him “What?!? I can’t hear you!”. I tried explaining to her and she walked away. Not one smile, no greeting, nothing but pure disdain. We smiled when we came in, we did nothing wrong. My father and son are big men. She sat us at literally the smallest table. When we told her we would like to move to the larger one she was fuming back at us. Why?!? The place was empty! Is she so dense that she couldn’t see our visit as a chance to make a tip? Why bother to show up to work at all? So ridiculous and insulting. WHY is this person in the service industry? We spent our hard earned money and it was terrible. This happened on their last day here. What a sad, disappointing way to end there trip. This establishment needs to reevaluate their hiring requirements and just a suggestion, put “Smile” at the top...

Walked in, and was ignored by waitstaff. Once they acknowledged us, it’s like they didn’t want us there. This was game 7 for the penguins, so we were excited to try a new place that is down the street from us. We were told we were not allowed to sit upstairs, where they have a nice space…(they later sat people upstairs)

We ordered two pizzas and a grilled chicken sandwich. Both pizzas were raw, and we sent them back…the grilled chicken was burnt and drier than the Sahara desert.

Everything was remade and they told us we would get 10% off for our trouble. We did not get 10% off.

The second round of chicken sandwich was worse, and was the incorrect order.

We had to ask to take it off the bill because it wasn’t eaten, but they still managed to charge for the side of ranch for a meal that wasn’t eaten. The manager never came over to our table once. Walked by about a dozen times too.

All in all - this place has the location to be something really cool and attract a lot of local people, along with the visitors on the mount.

I would give this place 0 stars, and would never recommend to anyone to eat there until they get their act together. The food was terrible, the service was almost worse (hard to do with how awful our food was) but at least if they let you sit upstairs, you can have...
