The Hive Salon Collective — Attraction in Pittston

There’s no one who loves The Hive more than me! I’ve been with Sarah since before she opened her own place, and it’s been such a joy to watch her create this whole experience for her clients. The Hive is the future of this industry — where you witness professionalism and trusted expertise, AND have a lot of fun. The aesthetic is cool and trendy (and so are the people!), but never in a way that feels too exclusive or unattainable. Everyone feels at home here, and you leave feeling like a friend. Oh, and my hair/nails are literally always perfect.

Now, let’s get into some specifics.

Katie: professional & accommodating. God bless her, I almost always need to reschedule the appointments that I book, and she’s always quick to consult Sarah (hair)/Cadie (nails) to get it done. She greets everyone warmly and makes them believe that she’s genuinely so happy to see them. It always makes me feel like a million bucks!

Sarah: EXPERT is the word that comes to mind. I’ve never had an idea that she couldn’t execute, and she’s transformed my once terribly damaged platinum blonde hair into the picture of golden blonde health. It looks great and it’s healthy for the first time ever— I have Sarah to thank for that! She’s also a teacher by nature, often explaining/demonstrating to other stylists as she works. It’s so clear that she wants everyone to love and appreciate her craft as much as she does. It’s inspiring!

Cadie: I used to get nasty acrylics at a different salon every 3 weeks or so, and I always hated the way they came out. Thick and ugly. Once I started getting builder gel with Cadie at the Hive, I’ve had much healthier nails and (honestly more importantly to me) they always look EXACTLY like the references photo I bring. They also last 5 weeks for me on average, which is well worth the investment, especially given how healthy my nails are now. Plus, Cadie is simply an artist by every definition, and I’m so so so glad to be in her book.

Jon: attentive & present. He’s always here, supporting the staff and offering guidance/logistical support. He seems to be very involved and equally passionate about client experience. I always love seeing him while I’m here for my appointments.

Alexis: back in my bang days, she trimmed me up many times and I always loved how she did them! She’s a pro. I would trust her with any haircut. I also just brought my boyfriend for a cut by her for the fist time. He loved the experience!...

I visited The Hive Salon Collective this past weekend for the first time. My stylist, Amanda Felter, recently moved to this salon.

First is a review of the salon. It's conveniently located in downtown Pittston with a nice view of downtown. The salon decor is fun and adorable, and it feels very homey. While I was there I saw several staff interactions, including the owner. They were SO nice to each other and customers, offering to help, offering to return to the salon if needed, chatting with customers (including children), etc, with smiles on their faces the whole time. The owner seemed truly lovely and the atmosphere was really laid back. The shampoo area has all color supplies exposed. They were all organized so neatly, coordinated by color with matching containers. It made my inner OCD so happy to see it all organized so perfectly. Loved it. Shampoo chairs were super comfy with a nice head rest. All products used on my hair smelled wonderful and made my hair feel really great. Oh, and there's a great complimentary snacks and drinks selection.

Second review is of Amanda Felter. Amanda has been doing my hair for about 2 years now. She was recommended by a family member and did not disappoint. I've included a pic of my hair from my appointment this weekend, because the pic speaks louder than my words can. She does amazing work on my fine, medium blonde, lightly graying hair. She is very thoughtful in her work, asking lots of questions to make sure she gives me exactly what I want. My goal in finding a good stylist has always been that I want to walk in, have them look at my hair, make some suggestions and I reply "sounds great to me" and walk out with amazing hair. Getting to this place with a stylist requires a lot of trust and someone great with cut, style and color. Amanda is that. My color is always perfect and she cuts my hair in a way that makes it look and feel fuller. I used to be terrified of special cutting techniques because my hair has been hacked by others in the past. Not with Amanda. She knows all the right tricks. She's super nice and we have great convo the whole time I'm with her. I've gotten so many compliments on my hair since she's been doing it.

I had the most incredible experience at The Hive Salon with Sommer, and I can't recommend her enough! As a first-time customer, I was a little nervous about making a big change to my dark brown hair, especially when it comes to going blonde—it's always such a challenge for me. But Sommer completely nailed it! She took the time to listen to what I wanted, and the end result was beyond my expectations. For the first time ever, I'm truly happy with my blonde hair, and I feel confident and refreshed!

Sommer is not only a fantastic stylist, but she's also incredibly kind and made the entire process enjoyable. I felt completely at ease in her hands, and the overall vibe of the salon was so welcoming. Everyone there was so friendly, and it was clear that they truly enjoy working together. The salon is beautifully decorated, and the atmosphere was so warm and inviting—it really made my visit special.

I also asked Sommer about extensions, and I'm already planning to return for a consultation on that. My daughter loved my hair so much that now she wants to get hers done the same way!
