I love Antiques, since the day they opened, âHigh Street Antiquesâ has been my favorite place. I have attended several events there, I recommended it to everybody I know, and have taken several friends there, for their first time shopping for antiques. Lots of the furniture and decor for my home and daughterâs home I bought there; same as presents for friends and family; and most of all, I love having lunch at the Tea Room! BUT lately I have noticed a big change! The ladies working at the front are showing a bad attitude and in a manner that is not respectful to customers! Never a smile, never a thank you! Maybe they feel entitled and superior because the Mall became popular! or maybe because they are all just too old and they were never educated or trained to treat customers with respect and consideration! Half an hour before closing, these old ladies go crazy kicking customers out in a very rude way! Announcing thru the speakers is not enough, they actually go to each customer and tell them âitâs time for you to leave!â. Last time I was there, this old short black lady, came to me and said it to me in a very condescending way! She looked at my cart, and said âyou havenât bought anything yet, why are you here? we are closing!â. I responded, âI heard the announcement, I have 30 more minutes to buy the present Iâm looking for! If I donât have enough time today, at least I know where it is located in the store, and Iâll come back tomorrow to buy it, I live really close, just a few blocks away!â Next thing, the old lady took my purse and put it on the floor, and started to take my cart away! Of course, nevertheless, this action made me very upset and took me by surprised! I told her she doesnât have the right to treat me so offensively and asked her âdo not touch my purse!â. I immediately went to the front desk asking if this lady is the owner of the store and if she has the right to treat customers so badly just because she owns the place? Well, as to be expected, all the other old ladies, responded as rude as their co-worker, defending her and saying it wasnât possible! They stated that when itâs time to leave, even if there is 1/2 hour before, we should just leave! Not one single apology! I am very sad, this beautiful, clean and peaceful place has changed so much due to the bad manners of its employees! I realize all employees want to leave their work shifts on time in order to go home, but if it is at the cost of mistreating customers, this nice mall, will come to an end! If they are so desperate to leave their job, then maybe they should not work at all! Nobody wants to go shopping and being bullied by the employees just because their store is popular, well-liked and in demand! I hope this review helps to improve this situation and this place go back to be the friendly place...
Read moreI love going here to have a good wander, finding items that bring back old memories of happy times in my child hood. There are absolutely gorgeous pieces of furniture, from back when it was made from real wood lol, can you honestly say anything you buy today will be around for 50,60,70 years or better? I go to find things not only for myself but friends and family too. There are wonderful pieces of jewelry, books, cookware, glassware.... Coins, stamps and Eisenhower buttons from his campaign for presidency. I will say the other reason I go is for The Chocolate Angel Tearoom. No you do not have to drink tea or wear your Sunday best, although why not? Go full out for the fun of it. Their menu is to die for! You can of course do a tea sampler which will have finger sandwiches and a scone. Or try one of their other sandwiches, or the duet or trio choosing two or three items to enjoy. Check out their menu online then go in person. Weekends, Sunday s and holidays they are always hopping, with a lovely lady playing the piano. So if you would like to wander down memory lane, maybe be find a truly individual and unique gift for someone special and enjoy a lovely pleasant luncheon take the time...
Read moreStaff was friendly. Ron, specifically was amazing and so nice and told us about the tea room we will have to try. They had reasonably decent items and there was a lot of variety!
The big issue (which is why I gave 3 stars) was a man (I'm assuming an employee or a temp) consistently followed us and wasn't wearing a mask. We told him if he was going to be that close to us and following us, he needs to put on a mask. He said he wasn't even close to us and "you do you and I'll do me" were his exact words. Then he walked off. Completely unprofessional and not thinking about other people's safety. He was also passive aggressive at the front as he spoke to another lady while we were checking out. I believe I was the only one who heard him though.
I hate to make a review with that included because I always leave good and honest reviews. But that's just the truth of what happened. We will still be back because the other staff and experience was good, but hopefully they can talk to that man and teach him some customer service.
*Edit- I lowered the star count because the reply from the place COMPLETELY missed the mark on this review. Expectations were not exceeded. Staff needs to...
