I really love this little part of Heinz Park. There are two resident swans that are there every day, even in the winter time. There are always flocks of geese and ducks and I just recently saw some hooded mergansers. Now that is a gorgeous bird. This area has a resident belted kingfisher who loves to fish from the telephone line that runs right along the path you need to take to the island. There is a bathroom here that is open during the spring summer and fall. Lots of people fish here but I've never seen anybody catch anything... And I mean never!!! ... So don't come to this spot looking to catch fish. It's just outside of historic downtown Plymouth... Not really a place to come to picnic though as there is only one grill... There's a pavilion on the other side of the street though that does have another larger grill but no electricity in...

The recreational area offers many activities including fishing🎣, walking, 🚶♀️ picnicking relaxing, bird 🐦 watching, photography, and magnet fishing. 🧲 The fishing dock faces East and provides plenty of space for fishing. A rock wall that faces West is perfect to stand on and cast away. There is also a small park with a playscape across from the lake. A clean restroom 🚻, and a shelter are welcoming. Read moreThis spot was shown to me about 8 years ago and it was beautiful! Now the lake is becoming over run with grass/seaweed. There are some big ol' fish in there, they jump and it's entertaining to watch, but anglers don't just want to watch! The lake is in serious need of a cleanup or some grass carp or something! I literally watched ducks walk across grass on the lake today 🤔 Still beautiful to sit at and relax, but not so good...
