I immediately thought that if there’s any place with oddities, that’s where I aughta be!
Plenty of things to see and explore here. Unfortunately there aren’t any pictures or videos allowed but here’s just a sample of what you will be mesmerized by: Skulls of dozens of animals, over 200 latex Halloween masks in mint condition (and many other costumes including Ben Cooper classics), almost every single character from all the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies in miniature (amazingly detailed!), mortuary items, mythical creature remains, and everything that will make a goth kid feel alive.
Please note that the entrance to the museum is not on Pike Street, it’s on Perry, just around the corner. Walk through the black metal gate once you’ve got around the brick wall. I went early (got there before it opened) and found plenty of parking and the attendant was one of the people who contributed to this collection and in fact was the artist behind the miniature collection.
Definitely worth a visit during spooky season or even if you have some...
Read moreThis museum was great and so I’ll definitely be coming back. When you go you initially pay 20 dollars, and then you get to keep half of your ticket stub for a reduced price next time you visit at the price of 10 dollars. I loved the archaeology stuff, as well as the mythological stuff. This museum is really cool in that, it’s a group of collectors forming their collections. If you’ve ever been to the Michigan Horror Museum in Monroe, that’s very similar. Where the hosts of the museum will curate their own collections to hoist on display, and that is no different here. Definitely one of the really cool niche museum experiences I had, and the man at the front counter was greatly informative. PS buy tickets in advance and go on the weekends because it is not open weekdays, but this museum closes later than most at around 8pm at least on Saturdays...
Read moreWe has such an amazing time at mythos! We are two old ladies in need of a girl's day out and had such an amazing time. It was cool because we went through and explored on our own and talked about certain items and were curious to know backgrounds of certain items. As we were nearing the end we saw the curator (the original voice of erebus) walking around and decided to ask the questions we had. He was such an amazing wealth of information about them items and all the history and i was so glad we had that time. He made sure to ask if we had any other questions throughout our conversation. We'll be back with or without the husband's 😅. Thank you and sorry Mr curator I didn't ask your name... Save your ticket for 50% of next visit! At least at the time of...
