The City of Portage urgently needs to adopt better land management practices. As with the rest of the Bicentennial trail, invasive plants have gotten out of control. I’ve walked here long enough to watch invasive shrubs take over once open spaces, crowding out native shrubs. Beautiful native elderberry bushes are now being engulfed by autumn olive and buckthorn. The goldfish swimming in the ponds is also troubling. What bothers me the most, is the massive stand of fragmites behind the waterpump. Even hosting a yearly invasive removal day would do good things.I would happily volunteer to cut the stuff...

We love to go to chocolateTea and get some tea and go for a walk..... do I think there's always room for improvement????....yes..... could they make some fun things interactive et cetera...or add sculpture or gardens or birdfeeders etc? Or build upon this concept?....... yes.... the new outbuilding is very well constructed... There are bathrooms on site at the beginning...I thought they were supposed to do food trucks...haven't seen that but maybe its because of covid or maybe not advertised well....all in all it's a great little...
Read moreSuper awesome park, if you take a left from the parking lot and keep walking past the little pond follow the trail until you reach the cutest little river. Theres a nice bench to sit on that was dedicated in memory of a young girl who passed away. If you look to the right of the bench theres a little cove where these awesome blue and black butterfly type insects live they have four wings! And the blue on them in super bright and beautiful, here is a picture of them if you can spot it. Anyway better to see in person.....
