update* I have finally tried A Thai Cafe. Apparently all to-go orders must be placed online now. They are very short-staffed. BUT everything we ordered was delicious! The curry fried rice has pineapple and the sweetness with the veggies was very tasty. The masaman curry was also very good; the rice was cooked perfectly and the vegetables were plentiful. However, the star was definitely the Pad Thai!!! So very tangy, sweet and delicious!! We enjoyed it so much for lunch, we ended up ordering more for dinner. My only complaint, my husband's complaint, rather, was that the hot spice level at lunch time was good and spicy, but was not spicy at dinner. Would be nice to have a little more consistency with the spice levels. Overall very happy and will definitely order again. Wish I could describe how the food is, as we have been looking forward to trying it since we found out you had reopened. Alas, I have no idea. I called to order and was left on the line... I finally got in the car to drive to A Thai Cafe to just order in person, but realized Cravings was on the way. So I went there. And ordered. And waited. And got our food. And drove home. Now we are eating it. And I am still waiting on the line for your employee to look down and remember they left me hanging. It has been...
Read moreAll I can say is, what is wrong with Kalamazoo and why can't any Thai restaurant in Kalamazoo or Portage make decent Pad Thai? Yes, even the famed Chin Chin is not that good. Mediocre, and overpriced.
I lived in Chicago for years, and my favorite Thai food place, that i tell everyone about when they go to Chicago, is Joy Noodle on Broadway. Nothing compares. Best Pad Thai ever, best peanut sauce. Everything they make is phenomenal. They also give you a ton of it and their service is FAST. Never had a bad meal or experience there.
A friend recommended that I try this place, and I was one again, thoroughly disappointed. Greasy, oily, wrong noodles used in it.
And the "crab rangoons," yea... Ga-ross! Can't even eat them. Obviously the frozen, Sodexo kind that are heavy on dough and minimal on crab. If you like crab rangoons and want good ones, I suggest Great Wall Express on 9th and Stadium. THOSE are crab rangoons.
Ugh, so disappointed. Trust me, if you have had good Thai food, and you know good Thai food, you will recognize this stuff is far from either good, or Thai.
Also, ridiculous prices too.
Guess I will be making my own Pad Thai...
Read moreThis is my favorite place for Thai in the area after trying a couple since we moved here last year. I’ve been here multiple times so far, and they have never missed with me. The food is great and I have received it in a timely fashion. I have not had an issue with placing my order during there hours. And the service has always been personable and professional. I’ve gotten boba tea twice, the first time hot and the second chilled and both were great. Especially since each time I asked for weird combinations and have asked for suggestions. The food has always been flavorful and I like that the spicy is actually spicy. There’s nothing worse than asking for a 9/10 spice level and get mild, and A Thai Cafe is actually accurate in their spice levels in my opinion. Also, crab rangoons I highly recommend getting as a side order at least. Yes, their hours have fluctuated in the past because of life and this is a small owned business. I love that they will close instead of be open and the quality of the food suffers. I can tell that they care, and I look forward to all my future meals and boba I plan to...
