Been in portage entire life. It's ok. Just alot of colored, (beautiful inside) apartments, play ground and splash pad. An overhang said to be an amphitheater. Valparaiso has an amphitheater. Other than that it's not that much of a big deal. Portage isnt nothing to write home about. Its tearing up prescious LAND just for humans entertainment and up to date housing. While all of the deer, nature's beautiful animals keep getting torn down, there homes taken away. That's what disgusted me with portage Indiana the most. Dont give a damn about the nature, and animals. That's why I've left. My daughter and her family left. Gangs also. Dont let a little bit fool you. I know the real portage. Keep tearing up the trees, animals habitats. Your oxygen comes from the trees, bushes, natural life. Idiots. We left because police are aweful also. Laporte county. Beautiful country. Away from Michigan city then its beautiful land, nature. Lrg county. Stay away if u want concrete citys....

It was horribly hot so we took the kids to the splash pad on Sunday afternoon. Hardly anybody there. Our boy made a friend right away and wanted to stay for hours. Our little monkey girl was all over the playground. We only live a few blocks away so we hear the music on our backyard deck when Portage has an event. What was once just an empty space has now become a destination in the downtown because we could have ended our evening at one of the restaurants across the street. I hope Portage adds more apartment buildings with more little shops.... a coffee and chocolate shop would be nice or a place for lunch with tables outside. I can ride my bike there on the paved trail. Looking...

Our 3 children ages 6,3, and 2 had a very good time at this place. I honestly don't think I've seen some of my kids this happy away from the house. Especially due to them playing in the water. It was a new experience for them. And it is free! The negatives are that people throw their trash on the ground, and the little kids will pick it up. Also you can see some things are broken. The city used our tax money to provide a nice place for our children and people trash it. I wish the city would put cameras thier to catch these people and use it as a way to discourage others from following their...

The best part of this park is the Splash Pad. We have never been there when it wasn't running, so when other local splash pads are closed - we head here. The bathrooms are easy access/handicap accessible with benches for changing clothes. It is slightly awkward to get to- because it's hidden from the road. Nice landscaping and benches. Like others have said- needs more shade. Lots of paved walking areas. When it's busy, it is a smaller splash pad, so it does get crowded. I recommend this park to all my mom friends with toddlers.

I enjoy walking through the park. When I began my walks 2 years ago (November 2015), it was a wooded area with bathrooms and a splash pad. But now they are developing apartments and business places. There is now an amphitheatre, a playground, new fire department, and the police department has taken over what was "Portage University." So I guess it is nice. Seems well thought through development. I'll miss the days when it was wooded and I had AM walks all to myself. Visit and enjoy.

The fireworks started out great & ended awesome but a little long winded inbetween but still majorly entertaining. Great Job Guys! Also, the food was a nice touch but WAY more stands & food are need for next year. Loved the live band! Great Job Mr. Right! Overall, it's a beautiful park & nice walking area. Also, I love it being in walking distance to the Portage police & firestation.
