When entering the restaurant there might have been 4 parties already there. We got seated quickly, when our server came we just wanted to let him know ahead of time that we wanted separate checks. It was going to be three separate checks and he said he couldn’t do that he could maybe do two separate checks. We said that was fine just wanted to make thing easier. When we ordered our food and he didn’t repeat any of our orders back to us. We waited a very long time to start receiving any of our food. We watched tables that came in after us eat their food and slowly our orders started coming to the table. I was brought a completely different sandwich than what I had ordered twice. My husbands sandwich came to the table wrong two times and the last time they simply wiped the mayonnaise off and brought it back out. By the time I finally got my food I wasn’t even hungry anymore I was so angry about the experience. Our server not once came back to our table. He never refilled our cups, never checked on how our food was going. The runners were apolitical and the seating hostess actually brought us the condiments we needed and refilled our drinks. Never once our server. When I finally got the server back at our table I explained how horrible our experience had been he said he was sorry and had a very bad attitude and I said sorry wasn’t going to cut it that I wanted to speak to the manager he said he was the manager. I told him that the fact that the mayonnaise was wiped off the sandwich and returned was unacceptable. He pulled out his paper pad and said it wasn’t his fault that he had only wrote no tomato but he should have repeated the order back. And again you should not just be wiping food off and sending it back out. He offered a gift card but I do not want to ever visit this establishment again. The food itself isn’t bad but the manager should not be acting the way this guy was acting. The seating hostess was the sweetest. She brought the kids at the table stickers and crayons and color sheets because they were so fed up being in...
Read moreAll things considered this place is a 5. Location is beautiful with a near by park that we could have taken our food to go and ate there, but. Comfortable ambiance nothing too fancy. We went early afternoon on a sunday with no waiting we were seated quick. Very clean table and dinnerware. We started off with the Beer Battered Cheese Curds and Pickles Fresh Wosconsin cheese curds Served with Chipotle Ranch. I'm not a huge fan of pickles so this was hard for me to get into. Although it was delicious for awhile, after about 5 curds the salty pickle taste took over and I was done. We had seltzer to drink mine was something with berries sorry I forget the name but was good. And he's was very strong had a thick texture tasted a bit like beer. If I remember I will post an update For the mrs. WHISKEY GLAZED BISON Rustic Leaf Lettuce, Caramelized Onions, Swiss Cheese, & Whiskey Glaze on a Pretzel Bun delicious! The meat is cooked to perfection and so tender. Bun is soft. For a side she had PARMESAN GARLIC FRIES WITH ROASTED GARLIC CREMA also great! I had the firecracker and yes it had pop! Seasoned with Big Time Cajun Seasoning and Topped with Rustic Leaf Lettuce Blend, Sliced Tomato, Cherry Wood Smoked Bacon, Fried Pepper Jack Cheese, Sweet & Spicy Pepper Relish, & Firecracker Mayo on an Onion Roll mm mmm. Huge BEER BATTERED ONION RINGS WITH CHIPOTLE RANCH for a side. Service was wonderful and friendly. Prices were not bad at all. $50 for the while meal. Read moreMy buddy and I have been going around NWI trying to find the best burger. After eating here, we stopped trying new places. This is the place. Not only for burgers, but for anything on their menu. It is all made with fresh ingredients, in house, and you can taste that. From the wild mushrooms they use, to the house made sauces. The fantastic soups, to the amazing appetizers. Everything is high quality, flavorful, and consistent. I’ve never had a bad experience, only good to great ones, there is no other scale. I would consider myself a regular, I just can’t pick another place. Best restaurant in Portage by far, best burger in the region (and my friend and I have eaten at all the best “burger places” around) and the most delicious foods I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing. Some may think it’s overpriced, but it’s impossible to deliver any higher quality of food at a lower price point. I mean guys, wild mushroom? Garlic aioli? Pumpkin Soup? Ginger soy glazed Pork belly? These are ingredients not out of place in a Michelin starred restaurant. Top Notch place, in a nice location. My only knock on the place is that it isn’t closer to my house for me to be able to...
