Barnes & Noble — Attraction in Portland

Used to love coming to this location. They had a team that was really knowledgeable and friendly. He even had individuals who came from other local stores that really made this place shine. Because of my work I'm hardly able to drive around the Portland metro as much as I used to be able to, so I called in today asking about the availability of an item. The employee who answered the phone, Angelo, was incredibly unfriendly and unhelpful. I asked about the certain item and he started going off on this little script that he's made up that he's very proud of where he "legally" cannot give me details. I mentioned that I'm not an immediate proximity to their location and was only asking because I didn't want to drive over there and waste the gas. At this point he told me "well, I can personally guarantee you'll have better luck where you're from from now on"

What the heck. Before my schedule went crazy I used to come into this location once or twice a week and usually would walk out with recommendations from the staff most every time. After this interaction I plan to exclusively shop between two of the three locations I called because they informed me that they do indeed carry the products. It sucks because the team that works at Cascade for the most part has been great but Angelo single-handedly ruined this...

A pocket sized B&N. This is a cute location utilizing B&N new store layout. It's very clean and looks great and catches the eyes very well. Very easily to navigate and find everything you need. But that's also the shortcomings. It's a very small store that you can probably take a lap around sub a minute if you're just in and out and it feels more like a pit stop which is probably just right for a location next to the airport, so you can grab a few books before or after your flight. But it loses points for the cozy bookstore atmosphere for a total of about five chairs (not counting the kid sized ones)

Staff is super nice and always friendly which does a lot to create a welcoming environment. Definitely a highlight of the store.

I’ve been to this store before. Good selection for size. Today I went to shop before picking up friend at airport. I noticed that there is NOT a coffee shop, so I asked store clerk, and he verified that they don’t. He told me of a Starbucks that is close by. I said okay, I’ll go there after I go to the restroom and look around. He said, “ we don’t have a customer restroom since we don’t have a cafe.” Really , Corporate?! I worked at Pier 1 stores. We had no coffee shop, but guess what? We had a bathroom. Needless to say, I didn’t shop, but went...
