It's a hotel and it's close to the airport with somewhat accommodating staff, extremely cozy rooms and SUPER comfortable beds at first feel. The pool is fantastic - my boys love that it exists and I love that it's heated. If you like to be dry after exiting the pool, don't swim here! They don't stock towels and they get very upset if you ask for them. If you are in Portland and need to go to the airport, go to Embassy Suites. We have stayed at at 6 hotels in Portland so far, two of them right by the airport, and this one is not the best. EDIT: ok so this is our third day here and I do have a few issues. First of all, most of the staff are pleasant and accommodating. There is one lady who clearly doesn't like her job here. The pool is heated - sometimes it is heated comfortably and other times it is heated minimally. Today, it is absolutely freezing. Not ONCE have there been towels in the pool room. There is a rack for the towels but it is ALWAYS empty. When you're freezing and just want to get out and dry off, it is not cool to have no towels. We have had to go to the front desk EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. we have come to this pool and the woman I mentioned above gets very irritated when we ask for towels. Yesterday, a pleasant blonde woman handed my husband a stack of towels and angry lady yelled at her that they were the wrong towels. The beds are comfortable at first but my back is crying. To some, the beds are perfect, I'm sure. But my back isn't used to such firmness. Lastly, I recognize this hotel is near an airport. This is the second hotel we have stayed at right next to the airport - the other being Embassy Suites. At Embassy Suites, you could see the planes landing and taking off but not hear them which was really cool but here, you can only hear them. Every minute or two, all night, it was so loud, it sounded like you were outside sitting next to each plane as they landed or took off. There was no reprieve. Breakfast was a little pathetic... They were out of almost everything. We didn't care but some people were really upset by it. We are IHG members and so we got their free "high speed" internet. It was so slow I couldn't even load Amazon to shop. So, as I sit here, dripping wet, waiting for towels in the pool room for the 10th time, after asking twice in the last hour, I think we won't come back to this hotel. The rude/angry front desk lady was the final straw...
Read moreThis is the worst Holiday Inn property we have ever been to. The staff is here to give the brand a bad name.||Not at all a pleasant stay. ||We were on a week's vacation last week and after reading reviews went to this hotel. The hotel is quite close to Airport and we arrived at 1am.||The front desk staff said all the rooms are booked. Then she said can't book the room as she doesn't have the skills to book a room after midnight.||Asked how the bathroom is and she had no idea. Asked us to see the photos on Google reviews.||Quite surprising for a Holiday inn staff to say so.||We booked through an online website and it took her 30 mins to check and confirm. ||Agreed to take cash while checkout and pre authorised my card.||The parking is free and breakfast is served.||We paid cash for 3 days and extended our day for 4th day.||On checkout, the staff charged my card and when asked to take cash payment for 4th day, she denied.||Said she is new staff and doesn't know how to process cash payment and refund card payment.||It was my international credit card and as I had USD, I preferred paying cash so I asked for someone who has the ability to do so.||She denied to call the manager or another staff who had the rights to do so from the system.||After 5 mins, she asked us to leave the property and left the front desk ||Later the manager named Ally came.||She initially showed as is willing to help but after a min, gave us an excuse of calling booking.com. Went inside the back office and called the Portland police.||It took 30 mins to make police understand what we wanted and then 45 mins more for police to ask the staff to accept cash and refund card payment.||It was a simple job for which this Holiday Inn staff took more than an hour.||We stayed at Holiday inn properties in Tacoma, Seattle, Aubarn and they never had any issues with accepting cash payment.||The staff in this property has both skill and will issue.||The manager Ally said - We should be thankful to the staff who works here as not many want to work. She forgot to mention that - The hotel should be thankful to the customers who come here to stay as that's what pays your staffs wages. No customers No Business||We will never ever come back to...
Read moreUnfortunately, this is the first IHG hotel I’ve stayed at- where I was treated poorly and unlike a Spire Elite member I am so used to. I asked the front desk agent if my business partner was able to bring his service animal in for a few hours to for a business meeting. I was told the hotel doesn’t accept pets. I informed them that it wasn’t a pet- it’s a service animal, and against ADA guidelines, the agent said, “well what’s wrong with him?” I said it’s none of his business that he can’t ask that legally, and he just kept saying they don’t allow me ets- even though there isn’t a sign anywhere that said that. Not even the standard, service animals only sign. I waited again for 10 minutes because I wanted a fork. A man out of uniform in a white tshirt was standing behind the desk texting. Never looked up from his phone. I had to wait for another agent to come around and help. Although the hotel is clean, I was made not to feel important enough for a greeting or greeted as a spire member. This hotel is disappointing to...
