Dania Furniture — Attraction in Portland

I had just moved to Portland, excited to furnish my new home. I didn't have a bed, so I started with that. I went in to the Northeast store location, excited by the floor models and lovely furniture. I came back the next day and selected a beautiful bed and mattress. As I was currently sleeping at my daughter's I was anxious for a quick delivery. I was told it would be about 2 weeks. I gave a sizeable deposit, $500. After 2 weeks I heard nothing, so I called. The original lovely sales person was not available. Told I should never have been promised the product in 2 weeks... Something about the manufacturer being slow , but as I purposely chose a "Portland" made bed, that didn't make sense.But I accepted, and waited. Another 2 weeks. By now I had moved in and was sleeping on the floor of my new place. I called, and eventually went in, to be "handled" by an amazingly surly manager who simply stated there was nothing he could do ...I canceled my order and requested my money back. The kicker: a hefty cancellation fee, and the money had to come from their mothership in California. I waited at least 2 weeks for that too....Happy ending, I bought a great bed on sale at Macy's. Delivered in 4 days, no delivery charge and on sale. Not as glamorous as the "made in Portland" beauty, but suitable. The sad part, I intended to furnish my entire home, bit at a time. I've never been back to Dania. Great concept, lousy...

Lovely showroom, but that was the highlight of our furniture buying experience from them.

Purchased a sofa a few years ago that had a cracked arm within months, took a ridiculous amount of calls to get somebody to come out to inspect, took even more phone calls, emails, etc to get anyone to do anything about it. Repair person essentially said it was a faulty sofa, but Dania had them repair rather than replace sofa.

Springs are now poking thru on one half of sofa now and had the same issues with scheduling. Repair person again states this shouldn't be happening this soon. Takes 3 weeks to get any sort of response from Dania after that visit. Rudely told there was nothing they could do, point blank. No offer to repair, replace, or even offer to charge for a repair. Just told nothing to be done.

Spoke to their rude District manager who is just as surly and unhelpful as the rest of this place. Cant state how rude they all have been. In the end was offered 20 percent off something new, but at this point why the hell would we want to ever go back there.

Stellar quality and service! I am beyond satisfied with everything I purchased here. Shannon, Jan, and the entire staff are so helpful. Sure it is more expensive than Ashley and some of the other standard furniture stores. Dania is higher end than those stores, they don't sale the same the items. You may be able to find a similar look but the quality sets Dania apart from the others. I purchased a couple of pieces from Ashley and I am paying for it after the fact. 5 deliveries of the same bed and they still can't get it right. My custom couch from Dania was delivered within the quoted 6 week timeline in perfect condition. It was well worth the wait. It is a beatiful and comfortable couch that was manufactured locally.
