Magpie — Attraction in Portland

Edited after reply from owner. Rude staff. I read into other reviews after leaving the store and feeling completely disregarded and eye rolled upon. People comment about being talked down to and humiliated, it's true, it's definitely a vibe here. If that's what you're looking for in a place to spend your money, this is your store. This review was completely based off of the dark haired, middle aged woman working the front counter, no one else and not because there was an overwhelming amount of foot traffic. She is very brash, unwelcoming and pretentious yet super friendly and over bubbly to others. I've been around the block, can read a room and know what time it is. Worst experience I’ve ever had at a vintage store. The workers are your typical insufferable Portland hipster snobs. They instantly looked down at us when we walked in and didn’t greet us. I picked up a dress off of the rack and inquired about trying it on. They quickly took the dress from me and told me that I could not try it on because it would not fit me and I would probably just rip it. I completely understand wanting to preserve your very old, beautiful clothing, but if you don’t want someone to try it on- DONT HAVE IT ON THE RACK. Perhaps display the dress somewhere, hanging on the wall or something so a future customer doesn’t have to subject themself to public humiliation. First of all, absolutely ADORE the clothing here. Make an effort to go every time I visit Portland, no matter how out of the way it is. Usually, the staff is amazing & extremely friendly! Unfortunately on my recent trip, the lady on staff was extremely rude! She opened 10 minutes late & proceeded to answer my questions very snappily before taking what appeared to be a phone call from a friend from what I overheard & continued the conversation all the way through checkout. My partner was so shocked at how poorly we were treated, she refused to purchase anything, & I probably would have too had I not found a gorgeous striped 80’s jumper that I simply could not part with.
