This is a very strange little building with dirty tables. Apparently, even with quite a few employees, this joint is still expecting customers to bus tables. It's not that hard to just come out every once in a while to come wipe down tables. We were one of two parties in the whole place the entire time we were there, so it wouldn't have been hard to keep track of when we were leaving to just come clean the tables. I'm almost surprised they actually brought the pizzas out to us.
My wife and I had the special pizza known as The Waldorf and it was fine. It is one of those times where it sounded better on paper than in execution. The cheese pizza was good for the kids as the pizza sauce was very bland and watery. The crust was pretty solid at least. And the Hot Lips soda was pretty tasty, if not a bit overpriced. The breadsticks were pretty good, at least. But for the price we paid for a bag of them, they should be.
The employees were all very friendly and helpful and seemed to be having a lot of fun. So that's always fun to see. No complaints there.
In summary, I think this is a kind of cool place with the option of having a few types of slices available is a nice thing. It's one of the few pizza places I could find on our trip to Portland that didn't seem like it was trying hard to be...
Read moreBeen here many times, great pizza but the saying is true, one bad apple ruins them all! That bad apple was Cody! First they open at noon but the store was not prepared, I got there at 12:10 and there were several customers waiting. One guy had most of his pizza eaten before he could even get his drink. I placed my order and simply waited, when I got my order it was wrong, the guy Cody tried to prove I was wrong with the receipt, I simply said that wasn’t what I ordered but could I please have my drink. He went and got my drink, chatted with the girl I placed my order with and then brought me a extra bread stick, threw it out the window along with my drink and straw! Completely unprofessional! Needless to say even though I love the pizza I won’t be back because of this guy Cody who was rude to many other...
Read moreToday was my birthday, and after having a pretty awful day for unrelated reasons, I decided to order pizza from the Hollywood location. Some sort of mishap occurred, and they ended up being closed (no fault to them- I understand with the virus and last minute changes things are bound to go wrong). I called the Hawthorne location to see what could be done, and the manager on duty (a woman, but I can't remember her name, sorry) was absolutely wonderful. She offered to email people who could issue me a refund, gave me a generous discount on a new order, and on top of that threw in a cookie and six sodas for free. The kindness from the staff here is unmatched, and the pizza is just great in general. Thank you guys for saving...
