What a great pathway through an even more amazing and beautiful amount of communities that you can travel through by bicycle, E Scooter, or foot. The Springwater trail meanders along side Johnson Creek from it's mouth in downtown Milwaukie, OR that empties into the Willamette River to the headwaters in Gresham, OR. Supposedly either resident or Sea run Cutthroat Trout run up it's waters along with a rising number of salmon and steelhead species such as Chinook, Coho, and Steelhead. Due to conservation efforts state wide many more fish are returning to it's waters year after year. The trail offers such an easy access to many parts of this Creek to view it's improving health year after year. It's gotten so much cleaner and clearer then it was for many years being an inner city body of water and had been being treated as such. The trail offers great exercise for 2 legged and 4 legged animals as well as many parks along the way to enjoy nature and the creek that accompanies it. I'd say pack up the girlfriend or kiddos or both and some snacks then head on out to any part of the trail and enjoy...
Read moreIt's a lovely area and great to have in the neighborhood. I love taking walks through here, going on hikes, taking in nature, and having a little slice of peace nestled in the heart of a residential district in a big city.
Of course, occasionally unsavory elements from the city such as vagrants, vandals, and burnouts come to spoil the area and use it as their personal campground which is quite unfortunate. Hopefully the city does their due diligence and cleans up this menace in order to preserve the sanctity of nature and keep things clean for the animals and residents...

There are a few homeless folks in the area, especially from Johnson Creek towards 82nd-- but in all the times I've ventured there, I've only had one sketchy encounter... which sounds like 1 too many! But I was off the beaten path, near the waterfall.. and I probably woke him up with my magnet fishing shenanigans.
Everyone is usually very friendly and eager to exchange pleasantries. So, just stay on the path, perhaps?
