When I was in danger, they protected me. When I was afraid, they soothened me. When I was sad, they brought me cheers. When I was trapped, they freed me. When I was hungry, they fed me. When I was dressed in rags, they let me pick out clothes. When I was confused, they showed me the way. When I had questions, they answered.
I'm a survivor and I would not have made it without the gateway center.
Thank you.
Edit After a long time, they have changed the way they operate their phones, to swearing by giving out their services face to face only, regardless of circumstances, such as disabilities, distance, freedom, danger etc. and will completely ignore messages you leave regardless of their nature, this is enough for me to knock off two stars. This is very unfortunate and could in the end further make it difficult and possibly harm those who are unable to leave their homes. I hope this will be rectified.
Edit 2 I had a pregnant friend in a similar situation to mine come here recently, you turned her away with no answers other than being told you couldn't help her. She was in desperate need of a safe place, food, legal aid and perhaps a few products to keep herself healthy as well as possible crisis therapy. I'm knocking off yet another star over this, it's becoming unacceptable and I am no longer sending people in need to your...
Read moreShowed up at 9:30a and was told they were closed because they were at maximum capacity. Wasn't until I was balling my eyes out for a good 15 minutes that they finally let me in. Told them I ran away from my abuser last night with nowhere to go so I proceeded to sleep in a stairwell at the max stop in order to keep the wind off me. I've been starved for almost a week straight so of course I took advantage of the safe place to eat and use the restroom. Was told someone would be with me in a moment and was awake for at least 3 hours before I accidentally fell aspeep because it was warm inside and I knew the chances of what little I could carry with me would be stolen while I was there was low. I decided to keep sleeping but I woke up in short, frequent intervals to make sure I was able to be talked to if someone was free to speak to me. Not to mention I kept taking snack breaks as to move and stretch and stay awake waiting patiently for my turn to come. Finally, at closing time they decided to tell me that I missed my opportunity to speak with anyone and that I should go to a shelter instead. I had no choice but to return to my abuser. These people say they want to help but they would rather me get hit again than help me just because I looked homeless and was exhausted from...

The legal aid skips out again.
There were multiple occasions where I would give her my free days and times. Instead of confirming a time she then randomly calls my phone and then proceeds to threatened to close my case because I didn't answer my phone. I was in the bathroom if you gave me the exact time beforehand, I could have been in the bathroom on a different time. But no, close the case instead.
One week she said she had "Wednesday -friday off." I asked for Thursday she waits until Friday to tell me that she didn't have Thursday free.
The next week I told her I have Tuesday and that was when she randomly called me and I was in the bathroom.
