The prices were a bit too high. I'm aware that prices everywhere are rising, but we ended up paying $24 for a medium sized bag of potatoes, 3 rutabagas, and a head of kale. For those prices I was thinking maybe they had magical properties and was expecting them to get up and perform a little song and dance for us when we got them home.... No song or dance though😐
I'm also really bothered about the man that was at the information booth who told me about the SNAP double up program. When I mentioned that I didn't think I wanted to buy $40 worth of produce today (it was the last day the market was open for the season, until next year), he explained that if we didn't spend all of the double up dollars (or whatever they are called) at the market today, they could be used over at New Seasons across the street. Which turned out to be incorrect. New Seasons does would not...
Read moreI love this little market. Everything is super fresh and clean, there's great variety, and usually live music. There's multiple places to eat (although we tend not to), stalls with fresh breads and other baked goodies, fresh-cut flowers, alcohol (wine, beer, hard liquor, bitters), herbs (fresh, culinary, tinctured, bitters), fruits and vegetables (everything local and in-season), meats (raw, smoked, sausages, broth, fish, chicken, beef, pork), eggs (chicken and quail!), microgreens, cheese, prepared foods, ice cream, and probably more I've already forgotten.
