
Easily one of the best parts of Portsmouth! I’ve loved coming to Olde Towne for the seven years I’ve lived in Portsmouth, so much so for the last two years my girlfriend and I had decided to rent an apartment in Olde Towne just so we could experience it everyday!
From the Farmer’s Market during the spring and summer, to museums and restaurants all year round it’s the perfect place to enjoy a weekday evening or a weekend outing. Not to mention all the wonderful historical buildings, statues and churches that line the streets.
We’ll be moving soon to start a new adventure elsewhere, but if I could leave saying one thing it would be; The people are nice (sometimes a bit rough around the edges or a little out there) and for the most part Olde Towne is a pretty quaint and quiet place. It has it quirks and struggles, but if you’re moving to the Portsmouth area and looking for a place to make home, either temporary or permanent, I highly suggest this beautifully historical diamond...

There's so much history - the largest collection of 1700-1800 architecture between Charleston, SC and Arlington, VA - and it has an incredible community of residents and business owners. Not to mention some great restaurants and our own craft distillery Copper and Oak. My favorite Olde Towne features are the old brick sidewalks and huge old growth trees that shade the streets.
Fun fact - Benedict Arnold's headquarters was on the corner of Middle and High Streets, the same building that is now the Coffee Shoppe across from the Children's Museum.
Disappointed to see people go out of their way to leave negative reviews about the historic district considering it's the most significant one in Hampton Roads. I understand it's easy to pick on Portsmouth but the Olde Towne Historic District really is a great place and there are a lot of people working hard to make it...
