You go to West Texas to be in the desert. You stop in Marfa because there’s Donald Judd’s foundation, the Prada Marfa installation ( which you discover is actually in closeby Valentine and not in Marfa) the Marfa Lights, fun shops, restaurants…After a couple of days you decide to drive further south and you stumble upon a small town called Presidio. You park your car because you need to see what’s happening here. There’s a sign that says “open”. There’s a beautiful painting in the window. So you go in. It smells good. It looks beautiful. Amongst white drapes, long wooden tables display rare books, handpicked beauty products, small objects and a selection of artworks. There’s so much to look at, to explore. You are greeted by a long-haired woman with knowing eyes and a dancing smile. Every piece she’s selling has a story. You wonder if this is not a dream.
