Don Jose Panaderia — Restaurant in Presidio

Met the owner today. Very nice people and their bakery products are great. We got donuts, a kind of Apple Pie thick crust too and bottom... with apple pie filling....excellent. The wife got a coconut cookie, a big coconut biscuit with raisins and a biscuit with cream filling. I like their products because they are not overly sweet. You get to taste the base product. The filling or topping is an extra treat. Good work. We weren't familiar with some of the products so the owner explained everything and bagged up what we wanted. When we found out how inexpensive the bill was, we got some more. Ha. I'll just take another...

Don José Panadería Is a humble family owned restaurant passed down from generation unto generation. They have a modest selection of sweet bread, all baked fresh and with the home made feel. If visiting, there's no other place in Presidio to get authentic Mexican pastries. They also have Asado, and Beans, and barbacoa on certain days, and I recommend you get a"submarino" or Submarine. They don't take long, and for how huge it is, it's very inexpensive. You could feed a party and select the ingredients, although go all the way!...

Awesome little place we were fortunate to find after driving the River Road. Really nice staff who helped with our snack craving with tasty Tamale's, Churro's and empanada's. We headed back up to have a lunch at an overlook on the River Road.
