I had high hopes for this store. Found the owner's Tiktok where he does a few bits, showing off the store and it's concept. Even does some advertising there, nothing too crazy. He actually made it look REALLY fun and awesome. I'm not from the area, moved here because of work, always looking for new friends who share common interests. I live about an hour and a half away, so finding the time for the drive was kinda crazy. BUT I DID!
I was working nights, got off at 7am, stayed up, got cleaned up and about 9:45am I took off to what I thought was going to be the best place, a home away from home, heck even commented on the owner's tiktok that I would be making a trip. To his credit, he even responded in a friendly manner in the comments. The time comes, I make the drive. I get to the store front in the mall. And there it is.... everything looked so familiar considering that I watched all the videos the owner had made. I was excited. I step inside and greet the owner, Andrew, and the employee that was there, Dom. No response from the owner, alright that's fine. Man is running a business, he's probably busy with prep for one of the events. No biggie, let's take a look around.
I begin to peruse the store, and let me tell you the place IS AMAZING. The merch, the games, the décor, even the ambient music playing... just chef's kiss. After a few minutes I select a few items, find myself torn between others. I spend maybe 20 minutes just making decisions on what to buy. I go to the counter with my items and make some small talk with Dom, he's actually a really awesome guy. Friendly and helpful.
However, the same cannot be said about the owner, who would barely acknowledge my existence. Then I thought, "y'know, a store owned by a guy who loves DnD, TTRPGs, and the like.. he's probably socially awkward and not very good at initiating talks with strangers, sure, maybe." So, I try to initiate. Ask some questions, make some a few jokes... Nothing. It was like pulling teeth. The physical tension in the air just waiting for a response was excruciating.
All that to say, that while I was happy with the aesthetic and merch available and that I did purchase, my encounter with the owner was enough to keep me from ever making that hour and a half drive again. Imagine thinking you might have found a place that is welcoming and relaxing, make some friends, play a game or two, sip some locally made mead(which is delicious btw) and instead you get a cold shoulder that sours the entire mood. Never again. Good luck to the business for the sake of...

I have never before felt like a company cared deeply about the experience of their customers until I was served by Geek Together. The location was actually in the Evermore Fantasy park located in Pleasant Grove UT. I had bought a set of metal dice from the vendor stand the shop had up and was very pleased with the cost and appearance of them. Upon taking the long drive back home, I pulled the glass jar they came in out to show to the other passengers riding with me, only to find that a die was missing (specifically the D4). Knowing how open their display had been at the park, I surmised the potential that a different person had swiped it from the jar and put the rest back before I came along to buy them. The following Monday I made a call to the Provo store and informed them of the issue, unsure what action they would take. At the very most, I would have expected them to mail a single D4 in the same color and style to make up for what was missing, though knowing the business (and problem) was smaller, I went in accepting the potential that they may not do anything more than offer an apology and leave things at that (I would have found this outcome to be acceptable all things considered.). What I DID NOT expect was to hear the person speaking to me offering to mail an entirely NEW, FULL set of similar dice as compensation, and yet this is exactly what occurred. Yesterday I got the new set in the mail, and it is as beautiful as the first. This is QUITE CLEARLY a transaction where they lost profit; I mean I basically got a 2-for-1 deal out of it...but this level of care must NOT go unnoticed. You can shop with Geek Together with comfort knowing they care. I do not live close to Provo but when their online store goes up, I plan to do further business with them, and I hope my story encourages others thinking about it to also support this wonderful...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to celebrate our birthdays by playing DnD together because we rarely get to due to having children who need tending. We live in Ogden and our sitter lives in Kaysville. We had a 6pm game that was supposed to be 2 hours long, so we told our sitter we'd get the kids by 9:30pm. Our DM was half an hour late to starting and went overtime by an hour. We didn't manage to get back to the sitter until 11:30pm.
We both feel that the DMs should be more aware of game pacing. They should be able to read the table and know where to cut corners to add fun to the game and end on time.
I personally found it odd that they chose an adventure from a full campaign to do a one shot. I would have much rather it been a fun, 2 hour, homebrewed game. This was a long, tedious game that dragged. Not at all worth all of the preparation, time and money we spent to make the reservation, get a sitter and pay for the gas. We don't plan on returning.
Also, the free snacks and drinks offered for d and date night were a bit limited. Nothing special.
The pluses are that the prices are reasonable and the items for sale were great. The atmosphere is whimsical and the service is very friendly.
P.S. I'd like to add that I was told by the owner that we could make characters between level 2 and 5 so I made a level 4 and was told I had to downgrade it to a 2. I wanted to play a 3rd party class. I would have liked to have been told that they only accept official Wizards of the Coast characters so I wouldn't have arrived and been blindsided and had to scramble to get my character...
