I used to love Ruby River. That's a sad way to start a review. It seems obvious to this eater that the original owners no longer own this restaurant. Either that or they've given up. We went for lunch and the parking lot was empty. We were early in the day but they had been open for almost an hour. No one in the dining room. Our server was great! The highlight of our visit. We got the cheese fries for an appetizer. They were good. I got steak and jacketed baked potato. My lunch companion got a steak sandwich. I ordered my steak medium rare and it came out well done - grey throughout. The server noticed immediately and asked if it was cooked to my liking. I cut into it and no, it was not. She got it replaced. The jacketed baked potato had not much batter. I also ordered a side of sauteed mushrooms, which weren't bad but not as good as they have been previously. By the time the replacement steak came out we were done with the meal. The replacement was much better cooked and I felt compelled to cut in and eat some. The quality was low and very fibrous. Taste was on the bland side. The selling point is a 1600° oven but the steaks didn't have good char or color. It was like they were microwaved. (I know that sounds harsh.) It's sad to see a once great steakhouse fall so mightily. I completely understand that times were tough after COVID and have not completely returned to pre volume levels. Sourcing products from a cheaper seller give you just that, cheaper product. That's how it felt. Trying to save money but failing to live up to prior greatness.

I finally decided to come to this restaurant after driving past it for 3 years. I noticed that it was attached to Ramada Inn and there are always homeless people panhandling on the corner near this place so that has always been a huge turnoff. While you wait for your food they bring you bread and butter—pretty good! For dinner my husband and I decided to share a steak and shrimp plate. It came with rice pilaf and two sides—I choose a Cesar salad and mashed potatoes. They forgot my potatoes. I asked for my steak to be medium and it was served very pink—I didn’t mind! Yum! The bathroom is located in the hotel lobby and there was a sewer smell in there that was awful. Also, felt weird leaving a restaurant atmosphere to go through a hotel just to go to the restroom. For dessert we had the apple cobbler and it was delicious-I highly recommend! The prices were a little high but the food was good. I did not like the location or the parking but I’m glad I stopped in for a good meal!

I happen to be staying in the Ramada. So no I did not eat all this in one night. I want to start by saying the food is great. The service on the other hand is hit or miss depending on the night of the week and more importantly the server you happen to get. The beer is ice cold. I sat in the bar area every night except for the 1st night. Back to the service, The 1st night my issue lies with making me look bad, instead of the server telling her manger that it was her problem or even the kitchen staff. I ordered an appetizer when my entree came out to the table before the appetizer. The server told her manger that I had ordered the appetizer after my entree meal. I went from having a good experience and a 4-5 star review to a 2 star review. One star for the great service I got on the other nights sitting at the bar. And the other star for the food.

This used to be one of my top 3 steak houses to visit in Utah at least once a year when we lived in Utah more often. My wife and I would come here as a treat. We travel alot and even up to 7 years ago this was the first Steakhouse I took her to when she first visited Utah. We were at the time doing the long distance dating thing.

This is when Ruby River still served Peanuts as part of their opening appetizers while we waited to be seated for our "actual appetizers" and drinks to arrive. Now, you get the usual boring wheat bread and butter like every other establishment seems to go with.

To be perfectly honest we had not been back for a good whole just because life gets busy. However, I will say this that whatever sheff convinced the recipes up to be changed and convinced corporate to do so just made this place one of the top 5 worst steak houses to visit. Sadly this was a special place to us once.

If you want an inviting atmosphere, I would say this is a solid 2.5 stars. It reminded me of a gentleman's club in the sense that it was maybe 2-3 shades lighter inside this establishment.

Honestly, I was amazed the place almost looked the same, after the 15 years I had been going prior to meeting my wife. Come on, at least dust the cow boy boots and refurbish the carpet and fix the cracked chairs and shredded fabric booth Ruby River.

Normallly I can get past the "looks of a restraunt" especially most like myself go there because of the food and of course the more unique and clean the better the experience fight?

The food was simply FLAVORLESS. I of course ordered two types of steak, the Fillet Minion wrapped in back and New York Strip.

With the stuffed potatoes! The outside of the potatoe was awful, literally tasted like flavorless cornflakes.

The veggies were soft as in mushy!

My wife got the smoke grilled salmon. It was over cooked and just , this review isn't worth my time anymore.

Bottom line the whole reason sauces such as ketchup and A1 were invented way back in the day was to mask the taste of bad food!

The food was tasteless and just bad!

Because we were there to celebrate our anniversary we tried the only ONE FLAVOR of strawberry cheesecake which is normally really great no matter where you buy it. However, this cheese cake was Walmart caliber and the strawberries where literally from a can!

Then of course you get slapped with a massive bill!

Ruby River, I don't know if this location was purchased out by new ownership, or if this menu change was franchise wide.

None the less this was the absolute worst time out of at least 10+ times of eating here. Until your menu reverts back to what it was you have lost a customer.

There are worse steak houses for sure, but this just was whip lash and not worth the money! This was also the first time I saw it ever half empty!

This is surprising because it is conveniently attached to a subpar hotel that can host quite a view guests.

The service, was average. You could tell the waiter was on repeat and hadn't tasted what he he suggested just by the detailed questions we asked and how he answered. However, I'll give the guy a break. However, I do expect the waiters to know at least 30 percent of a menu and not to rush us while eating. That's not how to get a decent tip.

I will change my review if I ever go back. Or if I start to see most positive reviews regarding the menu.

The bathroom cleanliness which is important to wash up before and after was maybe...

8/25/2024 Update: Since my first visit, I try to visit monthly. Service is normally solid with the exception of the hostesses. I've accepted that. Tonight was different. No one was there to seat for quite some time and I never get the same server but service is normally good, then there was my server tonight.

Very busy with the big table (smart) but then there was the negligence due to flirting with the guy from Arizona. (audible sigh) He is an attractive man but not enough to merit not bringing utensils or a napkin. I'm not an animal with a dish. (eye roll). We all do things at work to get the job done but honey, come on. A bit of dignity. I got a fork for my salad and made due. Now the cooking is always consistent and they know what a MEDIUM steak is. Respect to the cook!

The restroom is in the hotel that's attached. A child was separated from her dad and was crying out. When she gave that cry with the shudder that gets you right in your heart, I happened upon another server with really pretty braided hair and pointed out that child. This angel went and comforted the child and stood with her. It was sweet. The parents eventually appeared and scooped up the precious child. I was cleansed of my sour mood by that act.

Please hear me wait staff. When you are serving, patrons are watching. We see how you treat one table vs another. We note when you leave us hanging. It's not to be petty, it's because the discrepancy is painfully apparent. I hope I'm wrong but you seemed the type to make assumptions about the tip you'd get based on appearance and then feel justified in negligence. You were wrong. I love this place and usually tip exceptionally well but you actually got to me tonight. I'm very disappointed but figured that leaving at least something, not much, was warranted as I did get utensils when my dinner arrived. Please do better. Please treat everyone well and be attentive. I get it. He's cute. Still not cute enough for me to struggle to eat a salad. Instead of assuming how things will pan out, know that your actions directly impact customer satisfaction. These things are not exclusive, they're directly connected.

Original: Was stuck in a hotel for 4 days and couldn't resist the smell. I was not expecting the decor of the atmosphere and wondered if I'd be okay. I was fine. I sat, I ordered, the waitress was amazing! The food was delicious. I got a ribeye and it was made PERFECTLY! I got the seasonal vegetables and a glass of red wine.

I was very much satisfied and full. It's a dark and warm vibe. The music fits the decor and isn't my style but it wasn't too much. The waitstaff is definitely nicer than the hostess but you cannot have everything. I came for the food and was delighted! I would definitely recommend having a steak at Ruby...

"I'm not joking around when I say that the Filet Mignon was absolutely AMAZING and cooked to absolute perfection!!!"

My husband and I stopped in for lunch, on a Saturday, for his birthday. Naturally, there were a lot of empty tables since we showed up at 1:00pm. We sat in a large booth, in a section with only 1 other couple who were finishing up their meal and getting ready to leave. It was nice, private, quiet, and made it easy and enjoyable to chat and catch up with each other on more than just the daily "in passing" conversations couples with children at home typically have each day. The ambiance at Ruby River is always great! I love all of the Western decor. One of my favorite things, ambiance-wise, are the large, deep booths that can fit 2-3 people on either side. Our waitress, KIMBERLY, was so good to us! She was quick to accommodate any requests that we had, and checked in on us frequently. She communicated with us politely, friendly, precisely, and clearly when a party of 20 came in toward the end of our meal and she knew she wouldn't be able to continue to take care of us up to her standards. We still felt completely taken care of and not forgotten like some other places we have been to. KIMBERLY took it all in stride, communicated well, didn't seem frazzled under stressful circumstances and she deserves a reward!!!

I ordered a 7 oz. Bacon Wrapped Filet Mignon (prepared Medium) with Sweet Potato Fries and "The Hulk" specialty cocktail. My husband ordered the Fish and Chips, with a stein of Bud Light. The food was excellent, as always!

My husband thoroughly enjoyed his fish and Bud Light. It's something he's eaten on previous visits, but it's definitely on his 'favorites' list! I've never had Filet Mignon before, but it's another item on my husband's 'favorites' list and he talked me into trying it this time. There are two size options on the Filet Mignon 7 oz. or 9 oz. and lots of choices for sides. I'm not joking around when I say that the Filet Mignon was absolutely AMAZING and cooked to perfection!!! It was juicy and super tender. I've never had a steak taste so good in my entire life, and I grew up in a rural farming community where steak and potatoes are a staple at almost every meal! The Filet Mignon will definitely be added to my 'favorites' list as well! "The Hulk" specialty cocktail was really, really tasty as well! Not too tart, not too sweet, a perfectly balanced drink to accompany lunch!

I've visited Ruby River several times over and have always loved their food and cocktails. There isn't one negative thing that I could say about Ruby River. I've had an enjoyable experience every time I've...
