Unfortunately the power was out when we visited so we did not get to do the tour. The lady allowed us to walk around the first floor anyway. It was interesting to see, I'll have to come back when the power is back to do the full tour! The visitor center section had some driving maps, I'd recommend the Mid Mod driving map tour. It was a bit confusing to follow occasionally but worth to see.

I enjoyed the location and the story. Disappointed that there was so little history left due to renovations and changing hands over the years. Stunning view over the Mississippi though and everybody there was super nice.

Beautiful old mansion overlooking the Mississippi River on a high bluff. The owner traveled throughout the Middle East and built a Moorish mansion in Quincy, Illinois. Very cool place to visit.

It's a really neat place to go! It caught my eye many times crossing the river, it was such a delight to be able to find Villa Katherine is open to the public! Even more fantastic the history is available too! Every place has a story but rarely can one get to read it. Anyone who is the study of, or is, in architecture, design, or trade job of any kind, please do check it out and get inspired. There is a timeless quality to the details of this place. From the sun and moons, to the tiles...

I knew of this place when I was younger, about 12. My dad worked for the Park District and it was not occupied at that time. Bout 36 yrs ago. Some friends and I, snuck in. Well I took my daughter shes 29. I glanced over while driving n saw it fixed up. They turned it into Quincy visitor center. We wanted to do a walk through but they had about 30 min before closing. Definitely are going back for real. 3$ to do a walk through, thats nothing. Beautiful view...
