Finally got to dine at 8te Open in downtown Quincy after several weeks of hearing all the hype. I had the "Coach Wosman" sandwich and a side of poutine fries. 1. I'm a big guy with a virtually bottomless belly. I left satisfyingly full. 2. The sandwich is amazing. But, at its core and serving as its main component, this is THE best fried chicken I have ever eaten in my 35 years of existence. While I'm no world traveler, this is surely up there with the greatest birds being plated in America. 3. Poutine. Fries. Nothing further needs to be said. In addition to the great food, this is a nice looking and cozy dining establishment. It offers a very relaxed vibe/setting with plenty of comfortable seating for groups of all sizes. My only complaint is the room is a bit loud, but certainly not unbearable and not enough to deter me from dining in again. Some acoustic treatment in time would make a significant difference. Wait time was average, if not fairly quick given how slammed they were at the time. Definitely commend the staff for their speed. The owner/chef popped over when things died down to ask how our food was. Grateful I got to tell him that he makes the best chicken I've ever eaten. Grateful we've got this local restaurant on our roster of great eateries in Quincy. Can't wait to enjoy more from them!

My mom and I tried 8te Open for the first time, and we really enjoyed it. The restaurant is one large open area, with long tables and bench seats, and is decorated super cute. The menu is short with several different styles of chicken sandwiches, a gumbo, and a kielbasa topped with Italian beef called the 1848. I ordered the Southerner, which is two patties, yes two, topped with pickles and a zesty remoulade sauce on a toasted brioche bun and a pile of seasoned steak cut fries. The chicken tasted like breaded chicken fried steak and was delicious. The remoulade sauce I wish I had a jar of to take home with me! My mom ordered the 1848, and she said it was fantastic! Drinks are separate however, and my total was $17.17, but I ate what I could and had leftovers for supper. I look forward to trying the other chicken sandwich options in the future. Plus, the owners and staff were super friendly and welcoming!

I have been coming to Quincy for 20+ years for work and going to the “regular” evening dining experiences (no reason to call them out). Let me just say that 8te Open is hands down the best food I have eaten in Quincy …period. Jared is a fantastic chef and the poutine and chicken were simply amazing. I have not been to any other Quincy restaurant that serves food with the southern taste / flavors of 8te Open. I will be back in 2 weeks and it will definitely become a “must go to” restaurant on my weekly stops. If you have never been I would highly recommend for lunch or dinner as it is a counter order style with a great sitting atmosphere. A fantastic new restaurant versus the long standing traditional joint.

Update: I was very impressed, the owner reached out right away to make it right!

I would definitely recommend 8te open based on food alone. However, I would have to deduct a star or two based on our experience. Last night was our first time in so we really had no idea what to expect. At the cash register was a young boy, we ordered our burgers and he asked what kind of fries to which we answered regular. I saw that there was a $10 charge for two orders of fries so I asked because the sign said fries included with all burgers and he answered he had to ring it in that way. So I trusted him and moved on accepting that each meal was just $20 and that was normal. Fast forward we get our meals, burgers and fries and then two extra whole sides of fries which we couldn’t eat.

All in all the burgers and fries were delicious but I wish they had someone at the register that knew how to help us and answer questions especially on our first visit so we didn’t waste an extra $10 that we didn’t need to.

I also love that they have self service at this restaurant, there are no servers so no tip is required. It’s nice to have that option in Quincy for this type of food/service and you can even take the food over to Quincy Brew Co for a good drink...

We went there today for the first-time, 2:30 on a friday. There were only a few folks there already having their meal. There were 2 sets of folks at the counter visiting (they had already eaten) with who we assume was the owner as he was sharing how the restaurant came to be and how his uncle had made all the tables, etc. We stood for a good 5 minutes waiting to place our order. The gentleman behind the counter kept looking over at us and continued his conversation, not asking for another worker to come take our order. After waiting for such a long time and there seemed to be no other person taking orders and he showed no inclination to take our order, we left. As I said, this was our first time there and our impression is not positive. Perhaps we will try again but at this time I don't look for that to be too soon. While I understand building customer base involves "visiting" with the customer, it also involves excusing yourself from lengthy conversation to meet new customers. Teresa and...
