Not sure how long this place has been open for but this was our first time in there because a friend suggested it and after seeing several good reviews and posts we decided to give it a try for our Valentine's day meal.
The food was good, but not anything to write home about. Maybe I went in with too high expectations because of everything I had heard and read. The food was luke warm at best, including the brand new fresh to the salad bar pulled pork they put out that we watched them put out and got some right away. The chili needed more salt but otherwise was good but also not warm enough. The chicken and rice soup was way to watery and lacked flavor in the broth. The corn muffin and corn on the cob that came with the ribs was good but I would have liked a bit of butter for them. The ribs were a tad above what I would expect from a Logan's or Applebee's but weren't hot so they may have been better if they were hot and fresh.
We originally decided to go there because they had mac n cheese on the salad bar but when we got there it was basically empty and what was left was all dried out. They replaced it with green beans.
Our server was friendly and attentive, no complaints there!
Our appetizer was supposed to be half price but wasn't, the waitress got it corrected but we still were charged tax on the incorrect amount. We couldn't be bothered fussing about .30 difference.
The selection on the salad bar wasn't the best, but what was on it was good other than the French and ranch dressing seemed a little watery. They did have a lot of salad dressings to pick from and the cheddar cheese seemed freshly grated and not just bagged shredded cheddar.
Overall it was good, but I think we would still end up elsewhere. We certainly left full but we did order $50 worth of food! Had the food actually seemed fresher and hotter I think we may have...
Read more03 November 2023 I was there with my father's side of our family. We are here for a family get together from Alabama. There were mixed opinions about the restaurant. Because I could not smell a smoking grill in the parking lot, I did not trust any barbecue items. I ordered the mushroom jack 8 ounce burger. I asked for it to be cooked a little pink in the center.....
I would say it was the best burger I have ever eaten. I was impressed, it was very hot picking up the sandwich. I could swear the hamburger patty was formed by hand. It was perfectly cooked. 97%of the time in any restaurant when I order a hamburger cooked medium, it comes to me well done. Unfortunately I had the opinion they used canned mushrooms, which are tasteless. If they would have sautéed fresh mushrooms in some butter, minced garlic and olive oil, the burger would have been phenomenal. Their 8 ounce rib eye steak was not good at all. My brother in law and brother could not eat their rib eye steak. It is difficult to grill a 1/4 inch thick steak without drying it out. My brother in law asked me to eat his steak because it was cooked too rare for him. I tried to eat it, but it was incredibly dry and I disposed of it. It will be up to your own personal opinion on what you think about the food. The restaurant was very busy, so a lot of people must really enjoy it. They were so busy, service was not as good as it could have been. I was extremely pleased with the hamburger. If someone at the restaurant reads this, please consider the mushroom suggestion. I cannot think of anything canned mushrooms are good for. I am not a chef, but I know what I am eating. My uncle said the corn bread was very good. If you cook the mushrooms in some kind of way I am suggesting, I feel the people of Quincy will notice and word of mouth will spread like wildfire. I could not taste the...
Read moreFood was bland and cold. Service was okay but overall I was not impressed by the food or facility. There were peanut shells left all over the table and the floors and restrooms were very dirty. Also the food did not taste particularly fresh. Definitely overpriced. The manager, Ken, was very unfriendly. He has a tendency to speak inappropriately to his staff and unfortunately is waging a local war against another similarly themed facility. I've yet to have a pleasant interaction with him and because of his apparent problem with another barbecue place in town, I can't help but feel he must be more focused on this makeshift war than on serving quality food that's worth the price. When I tried to speak to him about all of this, I watched him tell one of the servers to say that he was not in; I happened to catch him outside and asked him about the quality of the food and if this was par for the course. He said it wasn't his fault I don't have good taste and said I was welcome to go elsewhere. Given that we were polite, still tipped well, and were willing to give the place another chance, I was completely taken aback by his response. From a morals and ethics standpoint, he created a page on Facebook masquerading as another local barbecue place, and had the information all redirect to Riverside's phone number and website. He has admitted to creating this with the intention of doing harm, and apparently the other restaurant is now exploring a lawsuit. Even the best food in the world couldn't get me to go back to a place whose owner stoops to such tactics. All in all, my personal experience there was not good. It was a forgettable place with bland food and is run currently by a fairly unpleasant human being. Given that he also runs Tacos Ink, you would think he cares about his reputation....
