Racine Heritage Museum — Attraction in Racine

I’d love to research the history of my historical home, but as a wheelchair user, every floor of their building is completely inaccessible to me. The records are free to search for able-bodied people, but they’re charging disabled people a whopping $35/hr for a volunteer to search on their behalf. Minimum wage in WI is $7.25. They’re charging almost a 5x multiple on that because their building is inaccessible. They’re literally profiting off of their inaccessibility, at the expense of the disabled, many of whom are on very small, fixed incomes. It’s completely unethical. On principle, I’m not paying their fees to access info that’s free for those who aren’t disabled, so I just don’t get to learn about the history of my Racine neighborhood and the beautiful home I’ve bought.

So the parking is not as easy as the website says, you must park near the top of the garage as all the lower spaces are reserved but empty. Oh, and you have to download an app to pay, the coin slots don’t register time. You must use ApplePay to spend less than $10, even though cost is only 30 cents an hour. The museum was fine although in August 2022, several major spaces were inaccessible due to renovations. Alot of the exhibits are gone the new ones are boring and no imagination like it used to be, seems like they close more space and not much to see anymore. Please open all the old spaces put back all the good exhibits again or create new and better things "i would even pay a bit to get in long as it gets awesome again. I still love Racine lets improve it...
