Friends and family hyped this place up to me, and I have to say I was a little underwhelmed. I and a few friends went at about 11-12, so right around the lunch rush. Much to my surprise, I only saw one server working. My review here is saying nothing against the server, as I can understand being overwhelmed at work, and the server was very polite and nice. We didn't get to put in our drink orders or food orders until roughly 15 minutes after we were seated and I am not even sure how long after that it took to get our food to us--long enough for us to take notice and wonder where our server was. The appetizers finally arrived and they were lukewarm. We got sand dollars and cheese curds. Now, I was told the cheese curds at the Yardarm are the best in the Racine/Kenosha area and it might have just been an off day, but this order was lackluster at best. I was expecting the very best cheese curds I've ever had, but what I got was just plain ol' cheese curds. Maybe the recipe isn't for me, maybe it was the hype that did them in. Once the food got out to us it was also lukewarm, which leads me to believe it was ready to be served sooner. Which is a darn shame, because my cajun style fried chicken sandwich tasted pretty good--it just sat out for too long. One of my friends got the fish sandwich and it only had three tiny pieces of fish in it. I'm not sure if that's normal, but it looked kind of sad. I have to say after all of the hype and talking this place up, I was let down. I definitely plan on going back and trying this place out again, though. It could have just been an off day for the place, something came up and they couldn't be fully staffed or something. I'll be sure to update my review after...
Read moreVisited Joey's yardarm for their $5 Monday Martini special since their flavor of the month is a caramel apple martini and my girlfriend loves anything caramel apple flavored and has been wanting to try it. The bar is located next to a boating dock area so upon entering we immediately appreciated all of the fishermen decor giving the whole place a pirate-like feel which I thought was cool and we were immediately greeted by the bartender who was polite and funny which made us immediately feel comfortable. My girlfriend got her caramel apple martini which she really enjoyed and I was lucky enough to get a martini I wanted that was the flavor of a month a couple months back but was glad to find out that it was so popular it is now a permanent Martini on their menu also even though we just stopped for drinks we got the sand dollars after hearing very good things and we have nothing but very good things to say about them because they are delicious like thinly cut fried potatoes with a seasoning on them that is so good you can't eat them standing up because your knees will buckle LOL. I can't say much negative about this place aside from the fact that they do close early and I wish they were open later plus I did not notice if there was a pool or dart boards in a separate area and did not have the opportunity to check out their outdoor patio but I will definitely make sure to do so next time because there is still more of the menu I...
Read moreWe ate here for the first time this evening, after being in the area for an event. We were seated immediately and our server Madison came over and introduced herself to us. She took our drink and appetizer order in a very timely manner. We were in the side room with a large group of about 15 people, who she was also serving.
Madison handled all the tables flawlessly and amazingly, she was professional but had a fun personality. We asked for recommendations and she gave honest advice and we appreciated that and took some of her recommendations as well. We couldn’t have been more happy with our dining experience. We will be back!
The food was excellent and had its own unique spin on some dishes as well. The fried walleye was thinly fried and tasted great. The crab cakes were thin, large and a little crispy with excellent flavor.French onion soup was amazing! Lots of onions and not salty like many FO soups tend to be. The claim chowder was a little thick/dense with a lot of potatoes (later in the evening) but lots of clam pieces too. It was good...
