Walked our little Cairn Terrier "Ruffus" around the south (downhill) end around the scenic renovated pond. I kept her on leash most if the time as there were a couple of big dogs with dad's and young sons throwing passes and practicing catch in the area I like to throw the ball for s game of fetch for a small treat,. A large flat concrete area in front of the bandstand/stage. So we walked around d and met a lot of nice people some with dog's (all friendly). About the second time around the pind the dogs were done so I got ready to play fetch with the dog. Three young girls asked their dad sitting on the stage supervising if they could meet my dog (while he watched, the only circumstances under which I would say ok to that) The introduction went well and ai showed them a couple of rounds , with a treat for Ruffus if she brought the ball all the way back to my hand. Each wanted so turn to throw the ball and took turns, and rewarded Ruffus each time. When the chicken jerky ran out I said we had to go and thanked them for bring kind to Ruffus, they thanked me, and I thanked Dad and went on our way. The park wasn't too crowded, and everyone I need was cordial (met about 20 to 25 in our rounds.) Alcohol is permitted in the picnicking area where people were having a good time with zero unpleasantness. We headed for the car and called it a good time...
Read moreI am rehabbing from a major thoracic spinal fusion surgery. Ten discs total . I am not cleared to do much. But I can walk. I also have a little black pug dog named Phooey. Phooey has health issues worse than mine. She can’t walk due to hips and elbows not developing properly. She can move around a bit but generally she just sits and watches people or sleeps. She’s my best friend so when I see something that makes her happy. I jump on it. We both enjoy that park. There’s a duck pond that is pretty sizable with large koi fish and turtles that I assume were unwanted pets. They have walking paths, bbq and picnic tables. Soccer, football, baseball, and basketball areas, the place is well kept and safe. I t can be enjoyed by the entire family. There are public bathrooms as well. But since it’s a public park bring toilet paper and disinfectant wipes. But all things considered it is probably one of the best parks in the city. There is also swing sets and jungle gyms for the younger kids as well I’m to old to play, but the enjoyment of getting out of the house and walking around a small lake with a natural ecology. Is a...
