I had a deeply frustrating and disappointing experience at Terra Vista Animal Hospital.
I brought my cat in for a sudden and noticeable limp in her left hind leg. I clearly explained the issue multiple times to both the nurse and the vet, and even showed them a video of her walking. Despite this, they focused on the wrong leg, and the X-rays they took were either mislabeled or didn’t properly address the area I had emphasized from the start.
Instead of taking time to investigate further, the vet quickly blamed the issue on a genetic condition due to her breed and age — without any clear explanation or supporting evidence. But this didn’t add up: the problem came on suddenly, was only affecting one leg, and looked much more like an acute injury, such as a sprain or joint trauma, than a chronic hereditary issue.
They prescribed painkillers and anti-inflammatory meds, charged over $500, and sent us home with no definitive diagnosis. Over the next week, my cat continued to limp, couldn’t jump, and began eating less — clear signs that her pain and mobility issues were not resolved.
When I called back to request a re-evaluation, I was told the earliest available appointment was 10 days away, or I could walk in and be charged an emergency fee. I also learned that any new X-rays or imaging would be billed again, even though the original visit failed to examine the correct joint or provide any resolution.
I have no issue paying for proper veterinary care — but this visit felt rushed, inattentive, and dismissive. Worst of all, it left my cat in pain with no clear next steps. A clinic should take responsibility when it fails to address the actual concern, especially when it was clearly communicated.

Read moreThis place is wonderful! From the front staff to the vet techs and assistants to the vets themselves, we have always felt our pets were in the best of hands. We have been going to this hospital for over 15 years and they have seen every one of our pets.
We just recently moved out of state and we fear we will never find a place as great as Terra Vista Animal Hospital. They offer great pricing and I never felt like they were trying to sell me on unnecessary things. The front staff is so loving. They always remember our pets names and they try so hard to make sure your pet is giving an appointment as soon as possible. Their Urgent Care appointment costs are cheaper than many competitors, so I always feel confident when I need to take that last minute urgent appointment. They represent the hospital so well and we have been so thankful for them! We have seen all of the vets and techs/assistants at this practice and have never had a problem with any of them.
Within just the past 2 years: Dr. Kelly Shearer went above and beyond to diagnose and provide care for our young Shepard, who has osteoarthritis. She didn't try to push for unnecessary prescriptions or surgeries. Dr. Michael Weigand handled our new puppy's cryptorchidism surgery. We had a couple visits to check the surgery was going to be necessary prior to the surgery being scheduled. He didn't try and jump to going for surgery. He wanted to make sure it was actually going to be necessary.

Read moreAnother animal hospital that cares about the dollar rather than the pet. We were going their routinely for a couple of our dogs, but one thing that always caught my attention was they had you sign what it was going to cost for your visit before you even see the pet and then after the examination they come in again and want to confirm the amount before they will really treat your pet. The final straw was when our pet came down with cushing's disease. We were unfamiliar with the disease and came to find out that it is somewhat common in dogs. I have had dogs my whole life and were caught totally off guard when given the news. But of course after multiple visits, various tests, and thousands of dollars to figure out why our dog was deteriorating so fast. Once they diagnosed our dog with cushings disease and now we at the hundreds of dollars with all the meds they placed him on and telling us that with this program he will be ok. Well!!! Within a two month period he went from a beautiful, healthy dog to a deteriorated and weak dog and past within 2 months of their care. Dr. May is the most pathetic vet we have ever come across with acting as if she cares, but doing her job is another story. It was so bad that they never even called to check up on his status and we still get their pathetic postcards about setting up an appointment to bring in our passing pet. Caring is sharing so stay away from...
