We had a pretty awful experience holding our wedding at Los Verdes. The wedding was beautiful luckily, but the planning process was, for the most part, unpleasant.
When we initially booked, the coordinator we worked with was wonderful. She was thorough, helpful, and made the first couple months of our engagement and wedding planning process great. Unfortunately, she let us know she would be moving on to a new opportunity and we would be moved to a new coordinator.
We were assured by one of the managers at the venue that the new coordinator would be seasoned and knowledgable about Los Verdes. This couldn't have been farther from the truth. We were given a brand new coordinator who knew very little about the venue - when I would provide her information or details she needed, it didn't seem she ever took note of them. I was very thorough in updating the venue, and she asked me the same questions over and over again. Eventually, she stopped responding to my emails, and all of a sudden other members of Los Verdes' staff would respond.
Finally a couple months later after receiving responses from other people consistently, I asked if this person was still our coordinator. This manager, who was very rude throughout the whole planning process, then informed us that coordinator was no longer with the venue. She did not even provide the info of our new coordinator - I had to explicitly ask.
When we finally met our third coordinator, it was at our venue walk through about 6 weeks before the wedding. She did not bring the venue details paperwork I had filled out and continually updated with them, so I had to check details myself on my phone when we had questions. Our third coordinator was actually very nice, and we definitely do not blame her for all the annoying things we had to deal with from the venue - she also, however, was new and not very knowledgable about the facility.
We ended up hiring a friend of mine who works for a fantastic planning company, Samantha Hall Events, as our planner for about a month before the wedding and to have a day-of person to help out. I don't know what we would have done if we hadn't because although the venue says they provide a day-of person, we barely saw our venue coordinator during the rehearsal or the wedding. We understand if the venue feels a day-of person hired specifically takes precedence, but we still wish she would have at least checked in with us.
Mostly, the venue looked beautiful on the day of and was everything we could have hoped for - mostly due to the weather being perfect and the golf course having a beautiful ocean/sunset view.
However, we asked that trash around the venue be picked up before the wedding (my mom asked several times), and it wasn't really - there were overflowing trash cans, etc. Not very pleasant. The bathrooms also smelled very poorly and looked like they hadn't been cleaned at all. For a wedding venue, these items seem ridiculous. You would expect it to be a given that trash and bathrooms would be cleaned before an event as important and expensive as a wedding but at Los Verdes, this was not the case.
We also paid extra to have bistro lights outside during cocktail hour, and they weren't up when cocktail hour started. My mom reached out to the venue with details to request a refund, and we never heard anything back from them. We also bought our own pop-up tents for our caterer to use, and they're nowhere to be found. Again, we asked the venue about it, and they weren't helpful in locating them.
Luckily, our pictures came out beautifully and the venue worked out on the day of, but I would not recommend Los Verdes to brides just starting to plan their wedding. Weddings are very expensive, and we felt like the quality of service we got at the venue absolutely did not align with the money we...
Read moreThis course is amazing. The prices were great, Lucy in the restaurant was super amazing, even the starter was amazing! However I am giving this course a 1 star rating for ONE Person. RICO. A VOLUNTEER EMPLOYEE. He was the ambassador on the last shift. Now I get it, ambassadors take all kind of trouble on a course. But in this situation I have never seen or encountered a rude and I would define as a pure racist individual. Before you jumped to oh here is a racist post, just hear me out. We were on hole of 11 of this lovely course. The group in front of us had several older golfers playing and walking. It's natural for them to take a little more time. Our group was not bothered. So we did not request a marshal. However Rico pulls up on us in a haste. He doesn't say anything other than "yall need to move it along, move it along" As he aggressively uses his arms to motion. I say hello, excuse me sir the people in front of us are playing slow and hitting multiple balls. He replies, "It's always the people in front, I'm telling YOU to move along!" In a sharp, rude tone. Mind you it's four of us. I happen to be the only black male. I didn't take offense yet. I said sir you can't talk to people that way. By the way if our group was playing slow we would not have to wait at the tee box to take our swing. We would have no one in front of us but I digress. He then says " I can talk to YOU any way I want!" Mind you I'm 6'4 and he is an elderly caucasian man maybe 5'5. I'm shocked he spoke with such aggression. I say that is not how a marshal should engage people that pay almost $200 to play golf and can I have your name. He said "Well I just talked to YOU the way I wanted to!" And speeds off. The people in my group gasped for air and looked at me and said " Wow I can't believe he just talked to you so rudely! He didn't say anything to us." I was so upset at the treatment that I put a halt to my golf round and immediately returned to the club house. Luckily, Jason Koh was the opposite of Rico. He apologized for the behavior and even refunded us our money. He assured me this would be taken care of. You may be wondering where the racist part comes into play. Well, Rico is now at the starter. I ask his name and now in front of Jason he finally gives me his name. He walks in and looks at Jason and says "See the kind of people I have to deal with!" Wow he still is going even as he's in front of a manager. Hmm what kind of people? He didnt speak to the caucasian people in my group that way. That pure disregard speaks to what kind of person and mindset he has. The group of people in front of us that were actually playing slow, were a group of lovely humans of Asian desendant. But I guess Rico only wanted to address me because he did not speak to anyone else after our interaction. Why not address the people in front of us? Hmm I will let you be the judge. But because of Rico I will never return to this course as long as he is an ambassador. That sucks because everybody I encountered were so respectful and loving. If the management of this lovely course reaches out and addresses this matter I will have no problem giving the course the rating it truly deserves which is 5 star! Rico took away those stars. As a black man playing golf, I have encountered all kinds of behavior. But today...

Our wedding at Los Verdes, nestled on a stunning golf course with breathtaking ocean views, surpassed all our expectations. The ceremony site offered exactly what we were looking for: a picturesque backdrop of the ocean that made our vows even more meaningful. The reception and cocktail hour areas were beautifully designed, striking the perfect balance between elegance and relaxation, which our guests truly appreciated.
Los Verdes impressed us not only with its scenic beauty but also with its exceptional service and flexibility. They were accommodating about outside food and allowed us to bring in an outside dessert vendor, which made it easier for us to personalize our wedding day. The food provided by Los Verdes was outstanding and received glowing reviews from all our guests. The bar service was excellent, with skilled bartenders who ensured everyone's glasses were full throughout the evening.
During the planning process, Greg was our main point of contact and he was instrumental in making our vision come to life. However, we faced a minor hiccup when Greg left and there was a temporary communication lapse during the transition to a new representative. While this was a bit stressful in the month leading up to our wedding, Los Verdes ultimately resolved the issue and ensured everything was in place for our special day.
One of the highlights of our wedding day was the golden hour photo session at Los Verdes. The views were unparalleled, providing us with some of the most stunning and cherished photos of our entire wedding album.
Despite the initial challenge, we are immensely grateful to Los Verdes for providing us with such a beautiful venue and an unforgettable experience. Our wedding day was everything we hoped for and more, thanks to the venue's breathtaking location, impeccable service, flexibility, and dedication to making our day truly special.
We looked far and wide, and this was by far the best deal in the...
