I came here alot for tires. That's OK. I came in here one day for a state inspection. Mistake. My uncle gave me his 2009 Camry, with only 51k miles on it. He is 77, and has ALWAYS meticulously maintained every car he's ever had, to the point of only going to the dealership for ALL service, maintenance, and repair. Every one of those 50k miles were documented with maintenance logs and receipts. He put new tires on it just 6 months ago. THIS PLACE, from TEN feet away from the car, within 5 SECONDS, says " Your tires are dry-rotted. I can't inspect that car without new tires" THE TIRES WERE COVERED IN MUD! HE WAS TEN PACES AWAY FROM THE CAR, ....and they decide I need to buy 4 new tires before they would even inspect the car. HE DIDNT EVEN HAVE TIME TO ACTUALLY LOOK. TIRES WERE COATED WITH MUD, DETAILS OF TIRE NOT VISIBLE, NOT IN 5 SECONDS, and THE MANNER I WAS SPOKEN TO. They didn't even make a pretence of actually looking. As soon as I said I needed an inspection, from 10 ft away and within 5 seconds I was told I need not One, but FOUR new tires? From a 5 second glance from ONE SIDE of the car?
It's one thing to argue w/ a customer over a tire patch. It is a completely different animal to insult the intelligence of your customers with so obvious an extortion. By the way, I AM REPORTING you to the WVSP.
I should have known a hole in the wall used tire shop would try to extort a set of tires from me. Needless to say, I went to Cramer's around the corner from them, and not only did the car pass with nothing wrong, the mechanic took me aside just to tell me that I had a VERY nice, VERY well maintained car, and that I should really take care of it. Only then did I tell him about my uncle...
UPDATE:
To reply to your response,
It's funny how a licensed inspector PASSED those very same tires you described as " dry rotted" not 5 minutes later that day, not a mile from you. It's a shame really, since the old owners sold, how terrible the reviews for this place have become( I was unaware of the change of ownership or the reviews) Good to know. Now, my family, and my wife's ENTIRE extended family, who have patronized this shop for YEARS and spent countless dollars there, will now go to Cramer's ....It must be so nice to so well off you can afford to offend repeat customers....

Preface: Yesterday I went to the Assessor's Office and the DMV to pay for my new 2 year registration sticker.
Today I went to get my inspection sticker at the Ranson Tire Shop. They needed proof of insurance and registration. The card and sticker was still stapled together from getting it yesterday. I gave it to the guy & he took it inside. The guy was super nice, and immediately was able to change my sticker. I went in to pay for the inspection and while walking out, I realized my registration sticker was torn off of the card. I looked at my new inspection sticker, my service sticker (brakes, tires ect) & verbatim said "Hey, I don't want to sound dumb, but I had a registration sticker on here". They guy said "Oh yeah, I went ahead and placed it on your tag." I thanked him, and drove away. I went to my mom's & I explained how easy the process was, & even told her how he put the sticker on for me. I JOKELY said "watch them not even put it on there". I had a feeling to go check it, and sure enough, my tag still said 2023. PISSED. I called my boyfriend, & my brother to explained what happened. I felt like when I went back, I was going to be gaslit to having the sticker placed. I parked & waited for the same guy to be done with a customer & said, "Hey, can you show me where the sticker is, I take pictures of everything I do for my car, to have timestamps (to remember, which I do)." He said it's on your tag. I said "Yeah, can you show me, it still say 2023". He came over to show me, & bent my plate cover & then had to go get tools to unscrew it. (Which if you changed it, literally less than 10 minutes ago; you would have remembered you needed tools to see it.) He took my tag out & said , "Oh, it does still say that, hold on, I know where it is." WENT INTO THE GARAGE PART AND CAME BACK WITH A 2026 REGISTRATION STICKER. He changed my sticker and said "I'm sorry about that ma'am." I looked him dead in his eyes and told him " No, I asked you about it." He had nothing to say. I then got in my car and left. I don't like being played like an uneducated woman. I shouldn't have trusted him, but just because I'm a young woman, does not mean I'm not educated. Not saying they've done this before, but the whole thing was super fishy. Would not go back...
Read moreBEWARE THEY DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!!!!!!Everything was great at first asked for 2 front tires to be mounted and an alignment. Long story short, they put on the tires. Try to do the alignment and was told they couldn't, because the camber bolts were bad. Mind you, my car was driving Just fine before coming after leaving I had three lights come on. Since they were the ones that had just touched my car, I called and asked if they would remedy the situation and look at my car, figure out what they did after some back and forth, they finally set me up an appointment. Because of how bad my car then drove and issues stopping, I was unable to work missing out on $600+. I called first thing monday asked if they would look at my car sooner and I got attitude.Telling me that my car was safe even though I did not feel that it was And it would affect my job, they then snarkily told me to take it to another mechanic, so I took them up on their advice. The mechanic i ended up going to checked over my car and funny thing The very tires they mounted And the camber bolts, they told me I needed miraculously, I never needed in the first place. This new mechanic was also able to align my car with no issues And you know what caused all those lights to turn on? Well, turns out somehow after they had hands-on my car. My wheel bearing on the very tired they mounted is messed up when it wasn't before i got there. So I will not be going back I have tried talking to the owner Who just hung up on me.I would not recommend this place unless you want more problems with your car when you leave I'm out $600+ Plus the cost of the repair, which is another couple hundred to just replace what was messed up. Luckily I can Return the chamber bolts, but I can't get a Refund For their...
