Seattle Family Fun: Activities to Keep Both Dad and Kids Energized

My kids have enjoyed doing gymnastics here for the past two years, and most of the coaches have been great—supportive, friendly, and skilled. However, our experience with one coach, Kyra, has been consistently disappointing. She has been the least approachable and, frankly, quite rude. For example, today we arrived 10 minutes early, and my son started stretching quietly in the mini munchkin room, which only has a carpet. The hallway was crowded, but Kyra still insisted—rather harshly—that he leave the room, without offering any alternative. It felt unnecessary and unkind, especially given the circumstances. Another concern is the rigid vacation policy. If you plan to be away for a month, you’re still required to pay the full tuition just to keep your child’s spot. So, if your child attends three days a week, you must pay for all three days—even if they don’t attend a single class. This feels unfair, especially when there are no flexible options or discounts. Overall, while the coaching quality is generally good, it’s clear the facility is taking advantage of the lack of other gymnastics options in the Redmond area. A little more empathy and flexibility could go a long way in improving the experience for families.

After my daughter finishing her second class, I really want to share my experience. Except the receptionist (a younger lady), everything is incredible here, especially my daughter’s coach T for P/C class. The reason I am not satisfied with the receptionist is that when I asked her some questions as a new customer, she always looked unhappy and unhelpful. My problems are still not solved. For coach T, she is extremely friendly, patiently and professionally. My daughter likes her very much.

I am writing to recommend Emerald City Gymnastics, a phenomenal facility that has played a role in shaping my child's physical development, confidence, and love for movement. With unwavering dedication to excellence and a child-centered approach, Emerald City Gymnastics has exceeded our expectations in providing a stimulating environment for my son.

From the moment we enrolled our child at Emerald City Gymnastics, we were immediately impressed by the professional, caring, and skilled instructors who create a safe and encouraging space for children to explore and grow. Their expertise is evident in the thoughtful and age-appropriate activities designed to support each child's individual needs and developmental milestones. We have LOVED working with Coach Justin!

One of the standout aspects of Emerald City Gymnastics is the emphasis on fostering a love for movement, agility, and coordination through engaging and creative activities tailored to young children. Our 3-year-old eagerly anticipates each class, where he is greeted with enthusiasm, positivity, and a supportive community that celebrates his achievements, no matter how big or small.

Furthermore, the state-of-the-art facilities at Emerald City Gymnastics are impeccably maintained, providing a conducive environment for exploration, learning, and fun.

Beyond the great gymnastics instruction, the sense of community and camaraderie among parents, coaches, and staff at Emerald City Gymnastics creates a supportive and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, empowered, and inspired to reach their full potential. The owners, coaches and front desk staff are attentive and take the time to get to know you and show you they genuinely care!

In summary, Emerald City Gymnastics has been a highlight of our week for our family. We are profoundly grateful for the positive impact this facility has had on our child's growth, confidence, and ability to foster friendships. We wholeheartedly recommend Emerald City Gymnastics to families seeking a nurturing, engaging, and enriching experience for their young children. They know how to throw an AWESOME birthday party too!!! 😉

The reply: I want to clarify that what you mentioned is not accurate. I had already decided to withdraw my son from the program before this incident even happened. Starting from the summer, I had planned other activities for him and had already canceled his enrollment prior to that day.

Also, this month was our final month, and when you asked why we weren’t returning the following week if my son felt okay, I clearly told you that we were done and I asked for a refund. That’s exactly what happened.

Additionally, based on Google reviews from other parents, it seems that similar issues have occurred before. Some mentioned their children were ignored while certain kids were given more attention, and even noted concerns around diversity. While I was there, I also heard a parent ask why the coach was focusing only on a few children and not including everyone equally.

The original review: I am very disappointed with my experience at this gymnastics. My son is only 5 years old and the substitute coach completely ignored him and did not take care of him during the class. When I raised my concerns with the coach, she yelled at me and spoke disrespectfully. I’m really disappointed and have decided not to return to the class, even though the manager asked me to come next week. I had already canceled this program for the summer beforehand. We've been with this gymnastics center for two years and have never experienced anything like this before

After I shared my experience, the manager replied saying that my son was just playing and she was only telling him not to jump too close to other kids. I was there and this is not true at all. My son is very shy and stayed quietly, but other children repeatedly pushed him. He was scared and hesitant to jump or move because of this, and the coach did nothing to stop it or protect him.

I am deeply disappointed by the lack of care, respect, and professionalism from the staff. This was a very upsetting experience for both me and my son. I cannot recommend this gym to other parents who want a safe and supportive environment for...

To ur replay:

Fountain area is inside, inside means which is saying parents stopped and not beyond this point. I saw you are growing these years and more classes at the same time, more and more crowded parents waiting area. I am trying my best to leave the space and follow your rule. I think you could take lots of actions to prevent this kind of accident, such as, absorbent mats near the fountain area and of course pay attention for immediate cleanup. I feel that is not any parent responsibility.

I said that no staff noticed and helped at the first scene. You offered the ice bag after I reported to prevent other children falling as well. I assume that cannot be called at first scene.

We have been with the emerald city gymnastic for almost 3 years, I am quite disappointed with the recent class. Today my kid slipped and fell back down heavily in the ground due to a wet floor, which was not address properly. No warnings on the wet floor, No timely wiped up the splashed water, No staff noticed that….. This resulted in painful injuries, and she cried hard, but not even one staff noticed it. Only other parents helped my kid at the first scene, thanks to them. Safety should always be the top priority….. To make matters worse, the management team was not helpful in responding to this. The front desk is closed after I reported, likely due to a staffing shortage.

Btw, as I am leaving my review here, I read some other reviews which has the similar situation about kids felling down and no helpful response from the gym, which is so frustrated…… hopefully the management team could take these reported safety issues seriously to ensure a safe environment to...
